GameSpy writes: "It's always nice to see a massively-multiplayer online role-playing game that doesn't revolve around elves and wizards. The folks at Cryptic Studios feel the same way -- in a world before World of Warcraft, in the summer of 2004, Cryptic's City of Heroes debuted to critical acclaim, earning magnanimous praise for its refreshing reliance on four-color comic book tropes. The thing that still impresses me to this day: Not only was this Cryptic's first MMO, but also its first game, period. If that doesn't indicate a talented team, I don't know what does."
