Mike Got Game observed that his friends who own an Xbox 360 called the console's hardware failures as "3RL" while other gamers call it the "Red Rings of Death." So which is it really? Find out what the correct term is and weigh in on the discussion.

The whole Article is Crap and There isnt a bit of So Called ''news'' In it. This a Blog rent talking about how he only own a PS3 and his friends xbox360 and they use the Term ''3RL''(3 red Lights) instead of RRod.

and WTF @ this line '' So call it for what it really is: Red Ring of Death. When it happens to your Xbox 360 (and it WILL happen to your Xbox 360)''

I've had my xbox ever since the launch and I never had any problems with it and my close friends who also own a Xbox360 never had any problem with theirs to. if you get the rrod you probably will get it within the 3year warranty and if you do you get it repaired for free and get a new console + another 3year. If you dont get it after 3year you probably wont ever get it.

This article is not to be approved.

Why not this one? Look, I have had 5 Xbox 360's, 4 of which went bad for various reasons. Two RROD'd, one scratched the crap out of two games and one where the console would not read discs. My fifth one has worked great so yeah, there is the luck of the draw when it comes to 360's. Heck, I have had 8 of my friends/clan members go through no less than 2 of these consoles. The worst part of it is that the console has too many great games to stop buying the darn things but in the end, the facts are real and there was and in some cases still is a problem with the hardware. I don't see that to be a reason why an article like this can't be approved...

Natsu X FairyTail3031d ago (Edited 3031d ago )

I Dont see why this should be Approved because There is NO NEWS in that Article.

Rrod or 3RL? They're the Same Thing! The 3RL term is only used by a small amount of people .

Is that Gaming News to you? wtf.

Syronicus3031d ago

It's not written up as news... It's an article.

Natsu X FairyTail3031d ago

Still the site is Called News for Gamers. There should be The Least of News or Interesting stuff in a Posted Article or news.

Syronicus3031d ago

There are more forms of submissions that just news. Your argument is flawed in that yeah, the title of the site is about news but there are other articles submitted on a daily basis and the site allows them. You cannot discredit it if they at least put it the right category. It's not like we have not seen these types of articles before and quite honestly, I have actually seen worse.

La Chance3031d ago (Edited 3031d ago )

Theres been a lot of good 360 news since E3 while some other consoles seem to be left out.

Looks like some people just couldnt take it anymore.

More than useless article.

You aren't new to N4G are you??

And your avatar goes nicely with your ranting.

Captain Tuttle3031d ago (Edited 3031d ago )

When you get a repaired console back from MS the warranty is for the remainder of the three years or 90 days, whichever is longer.

Oh yeah, this "article" sucks.

You can call me all the names you want but my comment history will tell others differently. I have nothing to hide and I certainly won't stoop to name calling. I will however say that despite this being a blog or some article written by some fanboy (if that's what you want to call it) it is still no less worthy of being posted here on N4G than the hundreds of other articles that were bashing of any other console.

And on a side note, it is fun to watch you get your panties all bunched up over a silly console war. You need to lighten up a bit and let the little things go.

The best and easiest way to name it is by how many lights it's displaying/showing

a) 3RLOD ~ 3 Red Lights of Death or general hardware failure
b) 1RLOD ~ 1 Red Light of Death/E74 or a general hardware failure

The term RROD (Red Ring of Death) was originally coined for the 1st Xbox (also known as Christmas Lights) when it failed, since the WHOLE RING would light up around the power button. The term made it's way to the 360 very easily because there is a "Ring" but made up of 4 quadrants but it's still incorrect nonetheless to call the 360's issue a "Ring" because it never fully encompasses all 4 areas making a "Ring".

Simply, if it doesn't make a circle than it cannot be called a ring. So RROD is an incorrect term for the 360. But in reality it's all just semantics anyway...it still failed and that what "RROD" represents. A Failure.

'O.n.T.A'

i.e -

'Oh, not This AGAIN!!!' ;-D

Pennywise3031d ago

Let's just all call it one of the biggest technical failures of the 2000's and move on. K?

La Chance3031d ago (Edited 3031d ago )

I agree but more than 30 million owners have already moved already and enjoying the best console of this gen.

Max Power3031d ago

always be suspect. There maybe 30 million xbox 360 out their, but not 30 million individual owners, same can be said about all systems.

Pennywise3031d ago

How many of those 30mil are replacements. Everyone seems very quiet about that.

I cant disagree they really penetrated the market with their console. But BEST? Sorry I have to respectfully disagree.

La Chance3031d ago (Edited 3031d ago )

"How many of those 30mil are replacements. Everyone seems very quiet about that."

I wont be answering that because that would be treating you like a retard. i know youre a hardcore Sony fanboy but only the dumbest Sony fanboys beleive that theory.

@maxpower , yeah I bet theres only 50 million PS2's, 25 million Wii's and 15 million 360's and 10 milion PS3's out there. The whole video game business s A LOT smaller than we think (end sarcasm)

@PENNYWISE: man if MSFT's numbers are inflated then geez Sony's PS3 is performing a whole lot worse than we can ever imagine concerning software sales...

Pennywise3031d ago

La Chance, why thanks for not thinking of me being retarded. lol

But - I do believe those numbers are inflated. Especially from the retailers where people trade broken systems back in and then Best Buy has to ship it back to MS. But hey, I could be completely wrong... but I have never seen MS deny it.

No matter which way you describe it, it's a universal fact that Xbox 360 is the most unreliable piece of garbage to ever be manufactured. Xbox 360's failure rate is well above 90% and can even achieve the impossible feat of being over 100%. Microsoft's platform should have been ceased in 2005 and it will not be long until the Better Buisness Bureau shut's the Xbox division down completely.

If you want to experience immediate, unique and immersive interactivity, then look no further than PLAYSTATION®3. Only PLAYSTATION®3 provides the consumer with a wide array of AAA titles from every genre, giving you the most complete experience out of the competing consoles. Not only that, you're insured to up to at least one decade of quality software and hardware reliability which makes for the safe bet on your wallet.

Just like a legal prostitute in Las Vegas, Xbox 360 is only good for the quick fix. If you're seeking longevity and security, do yourself a favor and purchase a PLAYSTATION®3.

It’s nice to see someone who’s open-minded about the matter.

@Natsu X FairyTail

The entry is categorized as an “article,” which falls squarely in the realm of commentary by N4G’s standards. Commentary means expression of one’s OPINION.

It’s healthy to disagree. It’s not healthy to spew vitriol. Get over yourself.

you're worse than HipHopGamer, which is pretty dam bad considering he's worse than Nasim.
