TAIPEI, Jun 30, 2009 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) -- Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. will cooperate with Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs to nurture and support a local industry of software developers for the Sony PlayStation 3 game console.
"Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs to nurture and support a local industry of software developers for the Sony PlayStation 3 game console. " Hrm....
"geared toward mainland China." Looks like Sony's transitioning from ps2 to ps3 in China.
Well I have a couple of friends on my PSN list from China and they picked up their UK PS3s in Hong Kong so PS3 does have a presence there.Mainland China will be a difficult market for PS3 and will most likely only sell to the upper class Chinese population
Basically Sony is going to teach them to develop next gen games, for the PS3. But what is Sony getting in return? I would guess their making a super cheap @$$ PS3 aka the PS3 slim for Sony to get the price down to $299.
Good decision deploying there , but I think SONY must be aware at brain draining. If there're PRINCO blu-ray , then here comes modded chip =A=!
With so many software engineers at their disposal plus cheap labor Sony is going to become a software beast. They were not joking when Sir Howard said that they will start moving into software the same way as hardware. 2010 is going to be interesting.
they got a lot of 1st and 2nd parties, and they are gettin more dev for them... good thing SONY is really on videogames now, they didnt started like that, saying this liek *its not a game machine* still, they got theyr errors done, now theyr gettin more devs so ppl can have more PS3 exclusives!! thx Sony for the support :)
