Rush Limbaugh: Games Aren't To Blame

With yesterday's shooting at Virginia Tech grabbing headlines and the flood of theories as to why Cho Seung Hui killed 33 people bringing the agenda-driven rats from the rising sewers, you might be surprised at what talk show host Rush Limbaugh, so called America's Truth Detector, had to say about the topic of videogame violence.

RUSH: "(sigh) Let's say you're right. Not every video gamer goes out and murders 33 people on the college campus though. There's more to this than that. We can find all kinds of societal problems and ills, but the fact of the matter is that whatever you would look at as a bad influence -- video games as you mentioned -- it may desensitize people, but it doesn't turn everybody into mass murderers."

The story is too old to be commented.

Conservatives SHOULD be saying these things. It's the Liberals, for the most part, that think that people are inherently good and that only outside influences make people into murderers. Conservatives believe in the evil of humanity itself as a basis for all their other political platforms. Conservatives should know that acts like these are a product of choices that every individual has to make every day and is not the result of misfortune. What I mean by that is if you look at a poor kid that everyone hates and who has grown up in the slums and has to work to put himself through college and work to get a decent paying job then you'll see a product of choices throughout this kids life. This is the same thing as if you see a kid growing up in a middle class family and he succeeds at school and goes to college and then ends up killing 30 some odd people. Everyone is capable of these choices. The difference is that most people choose to not do these things that this guy did.

I would almost rather him on the other side. Logic would then tell me I'm right. This is like having the devil support one of your causes.

Than you RUSH!!!

Personally, I've always liked Rush. I don't always agree with him, but most of the time, he's right...

that's a fair statement , and its true. certainly unexpected from him.

Must never listen to conservative radio programs, because this is EXACTLY what all conservatives would say on their programs - not just Rush's shows.

Conservatives believe that we are responsible for our own actions, not that someone or something caused us to do it. We make our own choices. Liberals would have you believe that we are mindless and not capable of tending to ourselves so we need the Federal Government to protect us from ourselves all the while redistributing our money.

That is why the biggest opponents of video games are the likes of Hillary Clinton and Joe Lieberman. Not the ones that defend our rights to play them like Cheney and Rush Limbaugh.

I'm sorry, but you didn't just use a guy who shot one of his mates,(Cheney!), as a positive example in an anti-violence, gun related article? That's just ignorant.
