Breaking: SCEE Considering Layoffs to Streamline Operations

GameDaily BIZ has been tipped off by a reliable game industry source that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) is looking to cut its workforce by about ten percent. Nick Sharples, SCEE's Director of Corporate Communications, has confirmed that although no one at the company has been laid off as of yet, SCEE is indeed looking at the possibility of reducing headcount. Despite the ten percent figure indicated, an exact percentage or number of job cuts is not yet determined, said Sharples.

Well, Sony's struggling right now (look at the losses in their most recent financial report), and this may be a temporary cost-cutting measure. As I've said before, Sony's one of the few companies capable of weathering this kind of financial crisis. Hopefully for those employed by Sony, this will be the only layoff needed.
