Jamie Love: "Essentially this is about the pretty house versus the realistic house. It's about games that are very much like pristine homes, where everything is very beautiful and you are not allowed to touch any of it – and yet we call that immersion. The more beautiful and realistic the environment is, the more compelling it is. We litter the scenery with characters we can interact with, never really feeling like a part of the world because these things all work in the background, removed from our direct gameplay experience. Red Faction Guerrilla is much more like the house I grew up in. It has some problems, and things don't always work right. It's also messy at times, but it feels so comfortable that I have no qualms about calling it my home. It isn't perfect, but it is realistic and lived in. It provides the opportunity to touch every part of it, and requires something more of me to give it meaning and depth."
