From XE: "Over the weekend Left 4 Dead 2 appeared on the EA website listing the PS3 as a platform. Valve had this to say... "
Well there you go folks, either it was a bad secret or just a simple mistake. EDIT: Although i'm suprised they typo'd the L4D boxart onto a PS3 case. ;p
As with any timed exclusivity contract, they have to carefully word their denials. Bioshock says hi. @ Cthulhu: Yeah, it's called Windows.
A PC isnt Microsoft Platform, just the OS is, lol. EDIT: I read what they wrote. Typo, eh... ? I wouldve thought of a "we would never do a game for the ps3" or such... I rather play it on PC than 360.
its a valve game so a medium end PC will do
best 3rd party developer valve psshh dont make me laugh they are good but not the best I dont even like l4d
i thought it was coming to my ps3, since its so hard for the best 3rd party dev to make games on ps3, that tells you how good they are
The way Valve treats PS3 owners they can keep this game. I have a 360 and still won't pick it up, do to the way they just give us the finger over and over. They walk around thinking they are big man on campus.
although we have official word from VALVE, I expect there to be 7-8 more articles on this subject by the end of business day.
Obviously, Left 4 Dead 2 is an exclusive to Xbox360 and PC as it was just announced in E3. Wait 6 months after Left 4 Dead 2 is released and we might see a port just like Bioshock, Orange Box, Command and Conquer, Tales of Vesperia, and Ninja Gaiden 2.
I was wondering if he mentioned the PC when he said get a Microsoft platform if you wan't to play the game. Anyways I'm sure he knows you need the 360 or windows to play the game. On topic... bu bu bu teh bioshock
this site keeps getting worse...and worse. this is news?
Well.... it's more news than those top 10 articles and those "COD4 is still king" articles
"s there really someone who wants to play L4D on consoles? That's just complete nonsense. I know absolutely NO ONE who plays L4D on their 360, and there's a good reason for that. It's like playing Starcraft on a cellphone." What a pant load. Left 4 Dead is one of the top 5 most games played on Live and I know many people including myself who bought the 360 version and enjoy it just as much as any PC gamer is enjoying it. I can't believe you are comparing L4D PC vs 360 to Starcraft on a cell phone. You obviously have never played the game on the 360 if you think there is that much of a difference.
If its made by Valve I would never buy it on anything but the PC. Mods are the life blood of their games. It keeps me coming back to play it more. Without mod support I would never think about buying it on anything else.
But you cant play any of these games without "Windows" which is a MS platform... opps I didn't spoil your hopes and dreams did I?
"L4D is better on 360 because of XBL. " hmmm i doubt that was serious considering you can do everything live can do and more on pc for free... not to mention i got the pc version for £13 and the 360 version is still £25 :D + i could laugh at my mate who bought L4D on 360 rather than pc (despite being a much bigger pc gamer than me) cus he was expecting L4D to be 4 player co-op split, unfortunatly it's only 2 which sucks tbh
Holy crap the mod deleted my comment because I said L4D is better on the 360 because of XBL? Also my other comment that was deleted was in response to #1.12 telling him how this *is news* coming from the devs clearing up speculation and rumors and it got deleted? GTFO. @1.25 no one cares where you think the game should be played.
"@1.25 no one cares where you think the game should be played. " where i think the game should be played? where did i say where the game should be played lol take of your goggles and read again please. and you wonder why your posts get deleted by mods
Why would you laugh at your "mate" ? This article is about rumors of the PS3 version I don't get your talk about the PC or your obsession with it. " you seem to presume anything negative must be a fanboy comment lol just looking for arguments tbh" ^^ You're the one replying to me seemingly offended LMAO
Buy it used from gamestop. ;D
"Why would you laugh at your mate? " cus he pretty much just pc games but got L4D on 360 and paid way more cus he pressumed it would be 4 player split so he could play with his mates at uni. shudda read the box i guess lol he would have been better off spending half as much, playing for free online on the pc and getting any mods that came out. obv if it had of had 4 player split then buying it for 360 would have been the better option (in his scenario) you seem to presume anything negative must be a fanboy comment lol just looking for arguments tbh
Usually on the box itself it says "Only on Xbox and Windows" however I do remember the whole Bioshock incident which was later ported to the PS3 (good game on both systems by the way). I don't care either way, there's way other games I can enjoy and classics I can replay
'exclusively on Xbox 360 and PC.' = Public Beta
I sold my 360 last year and never got a chance to play L4D. I've always been interested so I'd play it. I'm not gonna go buy another 360 for L4D though.
This is like the MW2 on Wii situation. You want it, but it is very unlikely to actually happen despite the fact there is potential.
Last time I checked L4D sold way more on 360 than pc, so there you go. By Doug Lombardi himself. Stop the L4D hate seriously, if you want to play that much get a 360.
"Last time I checked L4D sold way more on 360 than pc, so there you go. By Doug Lombardi himself. " And sales improve your gaming experience how? last i checked L4d PC has better graphics, gameplay and mods. "Stop the L4D hate seriously, if you want to play that much get a 360. " Or get a pc :D. seriously i don't get why so many 360 fanboys claim exclusivity for games that are also relase on PC. So what it its a "Games for windows title" Its still not "360 Exclusive game for windows". If i can play the same game without a 360 or any other game without having to purchase "x" console, then it shouldn't be considered an exclusive.
While I wouldn't mind seeing L4D on the PS3, I don't see why people think Valve should go out of their way to learn to programme for the PS3 when they are primarily PC developers, it's just lucky (or unlucky if you look at lack of graphical advancement shown since Gears of War 1) that the 360 has such a simple architecture. By the way, why are you even allowed to comment in the Gamer Zone timesplitter? Please take your fanboy drivel over to the Open Zone.
PS3 is very likely to get Left 4 Dead 2. Constructed by EA though more than likely and also likely to be timed released 3-9 months later than PC/X360 version.
I dont' understand why the hate towards Valve for not making L4D2 for PS3. I mean there are countless other developers that develop exclusively for the PS3, but we don't b!tch at them (such as Sucker Punch). So what is up with the double standard? Or is it just the immense jealousy from PS3 fanboys for this game? If you want it that much, get a 360, it's only $200 and you get to enjoy best that both consoles offer!
You don't see Insomniac or Sucker Punch developing for the PS3 and then slagging every single other console, yet that's what Valve does. And they're notorious for it. Just look at what they did with HalfLife 2 on the PC. While other developers were happily making their games run fine on Nvidia cards, Valve (who had a partnership with ATI) instead didn't bother to develop their game to use the Nvidia cards properly, and then complained about the cards themselves. Sound familiar? EA's port of Orange Box to the PS3 was fine. The excellent reviewer scores it saw are evidence of that and EA has come a long way in that time in terms of the quality of their PS3 development. There's no reason why Valve wouldn't let them port L4D and L4D2 to the PS3 - with the exception of perhaps the fact that they all made their millions when they worked at Microsoft and still have strong ties there. If they just shut up and made games, there probably wouldn't be an issue.
"That's a typo. Check the trailer - 'exclusively on Xbox 360 and PC.' -Cheers" For those too lazy to make the jump. They've upheld exclusivity with the original L4D I have no reason to believe otherwise that this will make its way to the PS3 based on past actions.
"They've upheld exclusivity with the original L4D I have no reason to believe otherwise that this will make its way to the PS3 based on past actions." I agree.
"That's a typo. Check the trailer - 'exclusively on Xbox 360 and PC.' -Cheers" LOL...he`s a "cheers kind of guy.
Lawl No source?
Read the article. The source is Doug Lombardi himself.
LOL. Cry moar?
How about, Cry On?
Exclusive now is in 2 platforms?
"exclusively on Xbox 360 and PC" are you fucin retarded? Yes the 360 has plenty of console exclusive games that also release in the PC market MSFT designed the platforms that way for a reason lol.
If you're gonna play it, play it the way it was meant to be played on a PC.
Whether you play it on the 360 or Games for Windows, you're playing it exclusively on an MS platform. They were smart for making the 360 so similar to a PC to program. Most people are one or the other anyway. I'm not a PC guy, I'd much rather be sitting on my couch in front of my HDTV rather than in front of my monitor. Not to mention, consoles have a much better game selection that a PC does.
You don't need windows to play L4D.. You can still play it on Linux. You console/xbot kiddies make me laugh.
I can play a game to it's full potential and while your game plays at 1280x720p, looks (and plays) like absolute crap, I have it maxxed running at 1920x1080p with a 500-600$ computer. I can choose to play from the couch or not with a PC controller. :) Btw, windows does not own games, you can play it on Linux too with a bit more fashion. Microsoft does not get royalties for PC games, because why? Microsoft does not own PC's.
Ehh L4D was kind of weak, Valve can do better.
I have played L4D and I actually do not like it. I can understand why many people love this game and why PS3 owners would want it on their system, be it they "steal" a 360 exclusive for the fanboys or if the real gamers just want to play it on all platforms, but it just isn't a game that I like to play. It is too tedious and repetitive to me, I get bored after 10-15 of playing.
A violin plays in the backgroud.
Unfortunate for PS3 only owners, L4D is a great new franchise. Still the source engine isn't demanding, most average PCs can handle it well enough. You can put your PC to the test with the original L4D here > http://www.systemrequiremen...
I dont like [insert game name] anyway
isn't it true?
I believe the feeling is mutual, as vavle hates your console of choice turd!
turd is a bot 720.
Now all you sony gamers that hated on the first L4D and then flipped flop in favor for L4D2 as a result of this typo...you can go back to hating L4D2!
What, just like the 360 fanboys who thought Metal Gear was crap until you got it?
@9.1: Remember MGSR isn't a real Metal Gear game.. LOL I think that's the spin/rational being used right now. I think we can agree both sides do silly things like this and both are equally as stupid.
Check my comment history and you will find that I never liked any metal gear game. The story line is redundant and the characters are terribly recycled.
You made a sweeping generalisation of PS3 fans, i make a sweeping generalisation of 360 fans. Swings both ways
Keywords in the sentence was THAT HATED. You have a guilty conscience.
EXclusive on 360... and PC... and PS2.. and DSi... and Atari 2600... Exclusive. Every PS3 owner has a PC :)
But a Gaming PC? Oh hell no.
It doesn't take a lot for a game like L4D to run on your PC. Even if you run it with the worst settings it still looks better than the 360 (not to mention you'll also have mods). I will be playing L4D2 on PC regardless if it comes to the PS3 (Remember Eternal Sonata & Tales of Vesperia got "accidentally" put up and removed then they said the games wouldn't be coming to the PS3 and now they are). Unless the PS3 version of L4D2 has mods like UT3 then I will play the PC version so it doesn't feel like I got ripped off.
You keep telling yourself that, champ.
And every PC has Windows
That's why it is called "Games For Windows".
PS3 are such tense sissys.
Games For Windows means its ment to be played on a PC with the Windows operating system its not a Platform, its an operating system on a Platform the PC. Which is why on every site the Platform is listed as such. An Why dis I would hope your not to dumb to understand the true meaning of exclusive. If the experience can be had elsewhere then it isn't exclusive, abc doesn't say watch the Super Bowl exclusively on abc an then it shows up on espn because that wouldn't be exclusive.
Only a small minority play it compared to more mainstream pursuits. To keep up to date with the latest games in PCland you would probably have spent something similar to buying all 3 home consoles and a bundle of games & peripherals. Exclusively on 360 and that other platform that is unregulated, rife with piracy and insanely expensive to maintain.
It's obvious you don't have L4D on pc. As high-end as my pc is, I can only turn everything up except AA. I just can't set AA to highest or it will bluescreen. Clearly, you don't know what you're talking about DNA.
