Left 4 Dead 2's official site lists the game releasing for the PS3 this fall.
The list of all PS3 games lists Left 4 Dead 2 as well.
I mean, I couldn't care less, but I'm guessing it's true or SOMEHOW they put PS3 in there by mistake.
that's f-in crazy if its true
EDIT: Actually maybe its not that crazy since it is EA. However, Microsoft doesn't lose too many exclusives. Usually they just throw the checkbook at all of their problems
EA is a distributor and partner of the game but if so that means they are the ones making it....The Orange Box PS3 anyone?
Almost as interesting as counting. Ah ah ah.
well if so than great...but is it necessarily a good thing? Like AridSpider said...The Orange Box PS3 anyone? I can't imagine how a game could be expected to be the same with such two different developers. If Valve updates the Xbox 360/PC with content that could possibly be free like the survival pack....here's EA with possibly not doing it or charging a fee.
it's just a dumb typo.
I'm guessing it's true or SOMEHOW they put PS3 in there by mistake. -- Uh, what other possibilities are there?
If its so....then I'll just buy it used. ;D lol
Itll b a rent if anythin
When did EA buy Valve?
They didn't Ah ah ah
EA distribute Valve's games. My Orange Box on 360 has a faint EA logo on the green case.
who cares. Most N4G is blogs and fake news half the time, so I'm not giving in.
if this is true prepare to hear the fanboys say how L4D2 is just a ripoff and that it will suck now.. lol
probably a mistake. E3 isn't even a month old when they told us it was exclusive
Because valve made the decision for a PS3 version and gave the green light for EA to develope it because they showed interest in taking on the project. They were also suppose to do Left 4 Dead. What they did with Orange Box doesn't mean there is some sort of contract with all games in the future. The devs never talked about a decision to do the 360 and PC versions and then let EA port L4D 2 to the PS3. They said its exclusive to Microsoft's platforms for the last 3 weeks. Here is the old L4D(the first one) rumor " Speaking to 1up, Newell stated, "For The Orange Box, EA did the PS3 version. They're interested in getting a PS3 version done [of Left 4 Dead]. We just have to figure out where the resources can come from. We don't have the bandwidth. We're doing the 360 and PC version ourselves." The reply to (the First) L4d "There is no PS3 version of Left 4 Dead currently in production," was Lombardi's comment on the rumor. Sometimes I think rumor-mongers make stuff up and just hope some of their ideas stick. Hmm ... now that's an idea ..." This L4D 2(Left 4 Dead 2) info is either a typo or very a shaddy way of dealing with this game. Why would the devs lie about this during E3 and the 3 weeks after the show not announcing it for PS3 when they own the IP? YOU CAN GOOGLE THE QUOTES THERE WILL MOST LIKELY BE 4 OR 5 RELATED ARTICLES/SOURCES.
@Sonarus FF14 was a day old when MS started flinging cash :p
But still, can't say i give a damn. It doesn't interest me. And is probably a mistake anyway
It's a typo! With 5 months or so until release, I think they would've shown it running on PS3 at E3. Unless it's another late port.
This could still just be some kind of input error and we'll see it fixed in a bit. That or EA decided that they would port this version to the PS3. I'm not buying it either though. Why would they update their website without making an official announcement?
And realised the problem isn't as bad as people made it out to be. I mean HDD install size now where near as Lost Planet 1 and textures are uncomparable to the Ghost Busters dilemma.
i cant see why it cant come to ps3..
This is most likely a typo. However it isn't too far fetched. EA did the Orange Box when they were new to the system and didn't understand the RAM allocations along with the structure of the cell, so it was a bad port. EA obviously has gained lots of experience with the console since, and could now put together a good port. The first statement about L4D coming to the PS3 was based on resources. They would have had to independently invest in production of a title that they weren't sure of. Now they have a proven market, the investment is sure to see a return. When Valve said that they are making it just for the 360 and PC, they were telling the truth. If the PS3 version gets made, then it sure won't be Valve making it.
I picked up The Orange Box for the PS3 and, if you believed the forums, the game was unplayable. Truth is it was an excellent game, and my PS3 sure ran it a helluva lot tighter than my underpowered PC could have. This was a fantastic game. No wonder the PS3 version still managed a metacritic score of 89. And since then EA has proven time and time again they've got a handle on the PS3. Look no further than Dead Space for proof of that. I hope Left 4 Dead is coming to the PS3. I don't use XBL (no point paying for what's free, in my opinion) and my PC wouldn't really handle it. Bring L4D2 to the PS3 and EA's got a sale right here, that's for sure.
why would EA show this then?: http://scrawlfx.com/2009/06... maybe they got scared with the boycott and decided to port it to lose less money lmao
Not gonna get my $59.99
I don't see why not. I mean, more gamers get to enjoy a good game, right?
"When Randy Pitchford was just a modder he proved he could do Valve better than Valve. " what an idiotic and untrue statement. this was supposed to be a reponse to morganfail
They even have an art box for it http://www.ea.com/games?pla...
Thats a place holder even PS3 fanboys make them all the time. http://store.steampowered.c... http://www.1up.com/do/newsS... http://www.joystiq.com/2009... " VideoGamer.com: We’re a multiplatform website. Was there ever any thought about doing a PS3 version? Did it even cross anyone’s mind? CF: If it crossed someone’s mind it wasn’t the focus. The focus was 360 and PC. A) it’s what we develop on. B) it’s the platform we think lends itself to the interaction of our game the best. Microsoft didn’t know about L4D at first. Then they saw it last year and they just started coming to our offices to play. I think it had little to do with actual work, they just wanted to play. And actually we had had them out to come take a look at L4D2 before the announcement and everything. Talking with those guys, their marketing guys, they’re like, oh we play every Friday. And they do. They’re hardcore players. They all knew how to play. I didn’t have to give them any instruction. I thought we’d have to put it on easy for you guys. Let me tell you, you guys are good. This is a really good relationship and they’re really supportive, they’ve been really helpful, super great. I know they’re supposed to be big, bad and evil but that’s not the side we see of them. VideoGamer.com: Do you think L4D will ever come to a PlayStation console? CF: Right now it’s PC and 360. That’s definitely what we’re going to do. It’s just the platform that lends itself to it. And Xbox LIVE just makes it an easy thing to do. If you think about it, ten years ago we could have made L4D, but you wouldn’t have been able to hook up to your friends and it just wouldn’t have gained online as it did. And it’s really because of Steam and Xbox LIVE that we can make L4D." http://www.videogamer.com/x... Well it was nice talking to you I have to save my last bubble for this room after this is cleared up.
Someone doesn't want fellow gamers to play this game.
I sincerely doubt this is a typo.
Or the trash talkers really wanted this the whole time. E3 video's are all over XBL you know and so is Gamestop makes the PS3 content seem sparse. http://e3.gamespot.com/vide... I doubt they would say these things and then assume people will think a port from another company won't void the meaning of console exclusivity LMAO
I never once said I wanted it. Obviously there's some people who do on the PS3.
look bandit i know what your trying to say. and i try to say the same things all the time. but it's impossible to reason with fanboys on the level of really duh. so don't bother. he's not a gamer. he's a troll fanboy. he would rather gamers don't play games so he can come on here and laugh at them. let him be.
Tough jack, think what you want. Pitchford blew everyone's mind at a time when Valve was already showing signs of getting stale. It's the reason he is head of a independent development studio. Counterstrike also out-Valved Valve. Portal was a stolen idea. You just can't stand the fact that Valve isn't exactly the cat's meow. Ha ha, I am laughing at the denial. Valve have become a bunch of Milk farmers.
hahahahaha EDIT "hahahahaha" Traslation: whats the point I can only post so many quotes from the devs mouths if PS3 fans think that listing hold more water than the devs words all you can do is laugh.
And with nothing else to post, he laughs it off.
HOWEVER, if they put L4D 1 on the disc (it's a blu-ray and both games were made for DVD9), then I might pick it up. Makes sense for EA to attempt to get as much off of their IP as possible. It'd be nice to have Valve on the game though but I guess they're taking a stance against Sony for "hiding the power" as many people put it. Whatever. Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, Modern Warfare 2, God of War III, Fat Princess, etc, etc. Too many games to get upset about not getting what has always been thought to be a 360 exclusive. BTW, I'll be getting a gaming PC in the next month or two. The days of sweating any 360 exclusive will be over then.
"hahahahaha " Traslation: "I've ran out of responses. I'm not a gamer, so I don't understand the concept of 'non-fanboyism'"
Not impossible? We're talking about EA? Guess what, There's also news about L4D going to PS3, Tons of people create video about, confirm it's coming for PS3 June 5th 2009. What day is today? I LOL-ed. L4d coming to PS3; http://www.youtube.com/watc... So stop your blabbering, We arent like you when Activision said they will stop producing games for PS3, and all of SDF go, COD4 is meh, boring.. total BullSh*t
It's a typo. They made the same mistake last year. EA publishes so many multi platform games that I'm sure the webmaster gets confused. Human error. Hate to burst anyone's bubble.
Jeeze...didn't know this would bother you so much that you had to keep posting until you ran out of bubbles. You make those "trash talkers" seem like opinionated wise men compared to your rants. Hey if the 360 loses yet another exclusive, get over it bub. And if not, then oh well. I mean that's what you would tell other PS3 fans right?
Give me a "T" (clap clap) Give me a "Y" (clap clap) give me a "P" (clap clap) give me an "O" (clap clap)
I could care less
I've always been interested in L4D but I'm not gonna buy another 360 (sold my old one) for it. I wonder what's better, L4D or L4H ;)
Easy mistake if you smoke crack.
wow, really duh that's the most desperate damage control I've seen yet on N4G. Congrats. PS: This is merely a rumour, but wow you really got your panties in a bunch over it. *hands him a tissue* you know what to do.
it could technically go either way, but the possibility is clearly there...Yet, your demeanor is so obvious, I'm about ready to see those 3 green lights in your avatar go red. Lighten up (no pun intended). :)
Like I said in my #1.29 post -before- #1.41 posted his comment I was saving my last bubble for the correction. http://www.ea.com/search?ke... I guess the boycott articles will proceed.
I could care less about this game even if it was coming to PS3. Now that being said, let me point something out for all you flip-floppers and sh*t-talkers. I don't know if anyone has noticed this or not, but check the EA site again. L4D2 now only has Xbox360, PC, and PC Download as available platforms. On the upcoming PS3 games it's also been removed. Can't find a single mention of L4D2 on PS3 anywhere on there. I'd say that all but confirms just a typo or error of some sort. Let's put this one to rest now guys. Edit: LOL what's the disagree for? What, you think I lied and I really do care about this game? lol Or is it that you disagree that it isn't listed for PS3 anymore? No really, go look, no more mention of L4D2 on PS3, I promise. Nowhere that I could find. And if you can find it, by all means, don't just disagree but rather show me where. lol idiots I tell you. Joking aside, I'm waiting for the morons that disagree to start pouring in saying "Oh no, this doesn't confirm a typo. This confirms that it's REAL!!!!!! It's coming to PS3, they just had to take it down because it wasn't supposed to be announced yet for PS3" lol. People sometimes.
So you're just cementing the fact you're an overly sensitive fanbaby. Understandable why you're so defensive though, seeing as how for the longest time you defended Lost Planet 2 exclusitivity, then timed exclusitivity, then being smacked in the jaw by Capcom when they announced all versions will have the same release date.
in a sense though, I guess this could be compared to Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. You know, can only get the "true sequel" made by Valve on the PC and Xbox 360...the EA version is...the "other team".
Well im sure if EA were to make a port of the game they have conciderably more knowledge about the PS3 now then they had back then.
still...who better to do a Valve game...than VALVE?
I wouldnt worry. EA are not like they used to be and have now proven themselved to be the best in the industry at making identical PS3 and 360 games. Look at Fifa, Madden, Fight night, Dead Space etc etc Orange box was in the early days and I think theyve learnt their lesson. Anyway this is probably a typo, so who cares !
When Randy Pitchford was just a modder he proved he could do Valve better than Valve.
i dont think ea's experiece from fight night or any other non valve title would help them too much here with a l4d port... we are talking about the source engine here ... a pc engine from 2004 and designed around the pc architecture fortunately for the 360 ... the question is weather they have learned enough ABOUT THE SOURCE ENGINE from their orangebox port...
While it may be true to some extent that some level of expertise in coding for the Source engine is a factor, I would say that it's an even bigger factor that EA knows how to properly code for the PS3 and its Cell processor. Because a huge part of how the Source engine will ultimately perform on the PS3 is dependent on how well EA takes the Source engine and refits it, optimizes it, specifically for the PS3 architecture. Think of the Source engine as basically any other middleware engine (CryEngine, Unreal Engine) that starts off as a very general-purpose PC developmental platform, which then eventually gets optimized/appropriated specifically targeting various other console platforms. As is the case with any previous PC-to-console port in history, the biggest question at hand is always how well the developer can optimize for a particular console to get the best possible performance out of it.
