I wonder why they only give specific numbers for New Zealand, usually Australia and New Zealand are grouped as the same market if I'm not mistaken.....also I'd like to at least see the 360 and Wii sales compared to those numbers.

[Edit] vvvvvv yeah, OK deepbrown that was kind of what I was getting at, not flamming but I know 360 sold 30,000 in 4 days in Australia which I'm not sure if it includes New Zealand also; since alot of times they are grouped together, the PS3 also had relatively good launch numbers in Australia, either way even if they are combined for both consoles its surprising how little consoles are sold there, Australia by itself isn't a small country. I'm just curious about how exactly do they break these sales numbers down, this is pretty much the only info I could find....many sources but most seemed to say basicly the same thing.

yuh i tried to find them...no luck. Also the above list for the ps2 and psp...I don't believe that's their launches...but just their sales in the very same week.

We know the 360 and Wii outsold the ps3 in their launches anyway.

Every store I walk to in Wellington (NZ's capital city) stores have PS3s waiting to be purchased so Sony has done well with stock levels!

To be honest, I dont know how much to read into this article as there are no comparative sales figures for other console releases. Of course the PS3 would cause a sales spike given its high price in NZ ($1,199). However, like everywhere else in the world this will not continue unless those with deep pockets decide to buy 2, 3 or 4 more PS3s each to keep sales looking good.

For your interest, in NZ right now I can purchase a brand new Premium Xbox 360 with Gears of War, Dead or alive 4 and Project Gotham Racing 3 for $699 (NZ).

First week sales of PS3 are always nice then watch for the big drop offs in the coming weeks.
