Head-to-head racing with Blur, Need for Speed: Shift, Split/Second, and Forza 3

Are racing games the new first-person shooter? Revving up for release and shown off at E3 with tires smoking were Disney's Split/Second, Blur from Activision, Microsoft's Forza Motorsport 3, and EA's Need for Speed: Shift. They range from hyper-realistic to arcadey, so chances are you'll find something that's right up your alley among these four. But which one will you choose? Joystiq spoke to all four developers and asked them the same questions to see how they'd stack up.

The story is too old to be commented.

I like dirt racing best so Motorstorm is my fav racer this gen. Though I cant deny Gran turismo's amazing games and Burnout. And I"ll be getting GT5. Of this list I have to go with split second. So much action its mind blowing. I want to play it just so someone can trigger a plane to crash on me so i can pull some awesome stunt to avoid it.

be looking for that on youtube ;)

until the devs became a bunch of loud mouth pompous aholes that need to offer bribes to get people to vote for their game in some dumbass cnet poll. so now I will pass on the game as a day 1 and buy it used at some point. I also am looking forward to NFS shift when that hits but after hearing that Criterion are making a NFS game that is the 1 I look forward to the most seeing that I loved BOP and can't wait to see what they do with a NFS title.

I would also like a release date for GT5 so I can start to get excited for it. I am tired of just videos and talk and not really a fan of 40 dollar demos even though there is alot of content in it. It's just not the same as the whole complete game.
