Gameplayer Review: Prototype

The Activision Vivendi merger of 2007, despite being awesome for both companies involved, was not without its casualties. There was a new drive, and a new ethos with which the company would face the upcoming credit crunch, ensuring that the dollar bills would continue to fly in, regardless of the increasing urge of the gaming populace to tighten up their collective purse strings and hunker up until the whole shitstorm blew over. (Prototype, PS3, Xbox 360) 8/10

Some negative, but mainly positive. I think this is the norm. I think if you enjoy this sort of game you cant go wrong. I like gore too so.......yeah.

Better than Infamous?
The same site scored Infamous a tad higher, which I think is competing for a similar market - at least with PS3 gamers.

As anyone out there played both? What is your opinion, I am quite interested in one, but not both of these games. (I am unemployed you see)

Like i said in another post, InFamous = Style, Prototype = Gore, both are fun. The story are good with both, i'm at 2/3 of inFamous, and 6hour in Prototype. The only thing i'm sure its the side quest in inFamous are fun and have a impact around you. And for Prototype, for now, i don't like them, ex.: glide near the target to get a medal(bonze, silver, gold) or kill the most ppl in 2min to get medal... Nothing interesting for now.

Thanks dude
So it would sound like Infamous is the way to go: do you feel like you get a real sense of the Cell Processor in action?
MicroSony  +   1773d ago
No, its the first game of sucker punch on the PS3. It can have be done on 360 too, both of them have plus and minus, specially on the graphic and physic level.

I hope they do a Sly & Cooper 4 next using this tech they've developed

Obviously this is just my opinion but give inFamous a crack. Having said that I havn't played both. I just know inFamous is brilliant.

I agree with MicroSony, simular in gameplay but different in terms of atmosphere, one is comic related where the other is more like a gored out action flick, for some reason alex mercer reminds me of the infected hybred vampire from blade 2 and whats even more crazy is I think the character from blade 2 was called Alex, Hmm infected huminoids in NYC "I am Legend" anyone! I wonder if the Devs had any interst i those two flicks?

Yes i remember, we just found their inspiration ;-P

I am wondering the same thing.....I don't know what to make of this game yet...I guess it is one of those you have to try for yourself.

It's a perfect example to show you that this gen of reveiwing is heavily influenced by business incentives. Those that got some sort of incentive from Prototype's PR department gave it a very high rating; those that didn't get incentives gave it a very low rating in hopes that it'll push the PR group to pay them attention for there next game.

It's all a manipulation of the gaming community. They don't really give a rat's arse anymore about actually informing the community. They know their audience are primarily very young and jaded gamers and they know how easy it is to influence this group.

If you listen to editorial reviewers and you depend on their "info" for your gaming experiences then you are indeed a dolt and sheep. Nothing wrong with perhaps checking them out as "part" of your info gathering but the true reviewers are the common everyday gamers that give you a heads up on gaming forums.

If we could just find a way to balance out the insane power editorial reviewers have over developers and the community that would be ideal and I'll keep on advocating for more reviewing power to be shifted to the actual gaming community instead of solely with these review sites.

Previous gens was rarely ever like this. Usually reveiws were in the same ball park. IGN:8.5; GS:8.8; GT:8.9 etc etc but now you could have IGN give a game 4 while GT gives it a 7. It's just gotten way out of hand this gen.
