"yeah.. i would have got rid of the blu-ray and sold it for lesser price..." q:

I am not trying to defend the opposite side of that statement, but before you throw quotes out I would wait until you hear the full version. He could easily continue that sentence and flip it the other way, which would make you eat your words and give fuel to the people who love to flame. Journalists put half-sentence quotes like that into teasers so people will watch the rest of their show and to quote them is risky with a lot of people around that like to flame.

Edit: For the record, I am not the person who voted a disagree on his post.

It's not needed at all. Multi-disc works just as well, if not quite as convienient, and DVD-9's are what, 30 cents?

I don't mean to be rude, but did you even listen or watch this part of the interview? As your statement stands it is very apparent that you did not and if you did I would actually be suprised. The only mention of Blu-Ray was a teaser and it is obvious there is more to the story, so your assumption of "the wish to remove blu-ray" is quite unfounded as of right now since the interview containing the only quote that mentions such a thing is not published yet. Even then a lot of people disagree with that statement, so it is a matter of opinion and preference and not factual that would lead to a conclusion of "It's not needed at all."

There is the link to the source of the videos. If you want you can watch for the third portion to be published and see exactly what Jaffe's thoughts are on that subject, then comment on them.

I was commenting only on the statement in the last 10 seconds, where he clearly said he'd have removed blu-Ray and made the console cheaper.

It's not needed for games, period. Most games are fairly compact, and those that aren't small enough to fit on current media (Final Fantasy VII, ShenMue, etc.) they can always multi-disc.

The only, repeat ONLY, reason the PS3 has a Blu-Ray disc is because Sony needed a trojan horse to get it's overpriced disc format install base. The decision was made AFTER the DVD Forum where the industry decided on HD-DVD since it was cheaper and used a better video codec, but Sony just doen't like to play nice with others, preferring to bully people into it's format.

The rest of his interview was interesting and I respect him for wishing more time with his family, if you want an inane comment about something that doesn't spark debate.

So, in summation, I only remarked at what I found remarkable.

L - O - L

I am glad you people automatically assume everyone is mad at everything or excited, it must be a reflection of things going on in your own life at the time, and I guess I can't blame you for that.

Regardless, re-read my post. Actually, I will cut and copy it because it addresses the same things you just repeated. I will even put an asterisk in front of key sentences that you just do not understand, and for reasons far beyond logic I am sure. Here it comes, you ready for it?

Yeah, pretty sure that covers it once again. Glad you're watching out for the third interview to see exactly what he says though. It actually shows that you have at least a little integrity, try not to mask it with your haste to judge though. I am looking forward to not seeing it!

Rough day at work maybe.

Anyhoo, like I said, I was just commenting on what piqued my interest.

I'll bubble you up so you can comment further (hopefully).
