Sony's Lempel: 'You're not going to see trophies on the PSP'

With Sony's Trophy system coming up on its one-year anniversary this month, Joystiq was eager to learn how Sony could enhance the service, leveraging the PlayStation brand and distancing itself from the Xbox 360's Achievements system. So, during E3 last week, they asked Eric Lempel – Director of PlayStation Network Operations – when Trophies would make their way to the PSP, newly invigorated by the PSP Go announcement. Lempel said, bluntly, "You're not going to see Trophies on the PSP."

The story is too old to be commented.

Most of the people I know who hacked theirs did it because Sony didn't put out enough PS1 games for it. They all loved the prospect of playing their favorite PS1 games on a portable and would've gladly paid $5-$10 for games, but it's not until now that Sony put a heavy emphasis on doing so. They could've easily supported this sooner.. the PSP is capable of so much more than Sony does with it, they need to realize the potential of their own machine. Hopefully the go will change this.
