ResumePlay: New Super Mario Bros. Wii Impressions

Michael Perry writes: "Nintendo's Press conference was most certainly better than last year, but that doesn't mean it still competed with the other two companies in terms of hardcore games and new innovative technology. Still though, I gotta hand it to Nintendo for making me a believer again with the introduction of a new Metroid, a new Mario Galaxy, and of course, the New Super Mario Bros. Wii title, among others. Although I hate the name, it still could prove to be a blast when it hits its release date sometime by the end of this year."

Ahh Mario, never get's old. Nintendo I think stayed conservative with their E3 Conference, showed what we all expected, well besides Metroid.

I don't know why anyone cares about them getting the hardcore, they really don't need them at this point, because of the casual market being so successful for them.

ChickeyCantor3113d ago

The whole mentality of being "hardcore" this gen is just retarded.
I mean Mario is focussed to be for everyone, Its basically the type of game that is meant for the "casual" crowd.

But even then, that doesn't mean it can't be a good game or whatever.
Its just sad people tend to miss out because they feel they have this status of being "hardcore".

Even the maker from Animal crossing thought that playing games for a long time makes you "hardcore", not the type of games you play.
And honestly I thought the same, I mean wasn't that the definition?

The industry is just keeping this play about "hardcore" this and "hardcore" that.
It makes people think they are these elite gamers that should only play some specific kind of game.

Hardcore this gen is a pile of BS.

Ziriux3113d ago

Tell that to the industry analysts that think the Wii needs to go after the hardcore market.

Mahr3112d ago

In all fairness, industry analysts haven't exactly had the best track record this generation...
