"I wasn't in Los Angeles for E3 this year, but I participated in enough media briefings, conducted enough phone interviews, watched enough live video feeds, and saw enough game trailers to feel like I was. My overall impression? Hardware FAIL, software WIN.
First the FAILs. I hate to disrespect products that I haven't had hands-on time with, but I'm pretty unimpressed with Project Natal, Microsoft's new motion/voice sensing control system. Actually, that's not entirely accurate. It looked remarkable enough on stage and in the promotional video floating around online, but I have serious doubts as to how it will function in a practical environment and whether it will be as simple as Microsoft has made it look...."
