There has been, it seems, something of a fuss over the announcement from Valve that they're releasing a sequel to Left 4 Dead this November. The main point of contention has been that many were expecting more new content to be added to the original game, rather than appearing in the form of a full price sequel. This was underlined when an article on VideoGamer was rediscovered in which Valve boss Gabe Newell stated, "So we'll do the same thing with Left 4 Dead where we'll have the initial release and then we'll release more movies, more characters, more weapons, unlockables, achievements, because that's the way you continue to grow a community over time."
We spoke to Valve's VP of marketing, Doug Lombardi, to ask him about the player response. He talks to us about the reasons why L4D2 is a full sequel, why gamers should wait to find out more about the game before making up their minds, and how there are definitely still plans for the original Left 4 Dead.
Times are changing, and these games would have never been made in today's climate.
Every single time someone uses this phrase whether it's music, movies, books, comics, video games, etc it's always the same claim.
The ubiquitous "they" won't allow it to be made. And every decade these claims are made the claimant completely ignores all the "offensive" material that is published when the claim is made.
In ten years, you can write a new article about how you can't make games like Helldivers 2, Resident Evil VIII, Mortal Kombat I, Dragon's Dogma 2, Alan Wake 2 etc etc etc any more.
Dead Island: "The early PC version of the zombie game swapped the playable character Purna’s Gender Wars skill with a prototype name, which shouldn’t be mentioned directly. The skill name made fun of both Purna as a character and feminists."
"Feminist Whore" lmao
ill add one more to the list.
drakengard 1.
its ridiculous tho, especially since they'd still be able to find their place in alot of places in the world. except america of course ha. and maybe Australia.
ppl are so sensitive these days. ha. but it is what it is.
They're not offensive.
And we need another Fat Princess. Fantastic little game!
Some people just have no sense of humour if this sort of thing offends them. They need to lighten up and stop taking themselves so seriously.
He wants to launch all his projects initially through close beta.
TheGamer Writes "No game will ever surpass Left 4 Dead in the co-op horde shooter genre, so maybe it's time to move on."
It’s the simplistic design coupled with mod support that makes it unbeatable. I feel like it can only be succeeded by a remake or the same gameplay design with updated graphics, animations, weapons and new setting. Thing is, Valve doesn’t create or release games unless they feel it pushes the medium forward. They’re not interested in reselling the same content refreshed or not.
Pay up xbots. It will be 60$ or 50$ smackers if you want this ovrpriced DLC.
No thanks, Valve.
Releasing a zombie game before your next Counter-Strike installment or your newest iteration of the Half-Life 2 series episode 3 is shameful especially when that's 8 to 9 months after the first.
If I just moved to the developed world, and never saw games till now, I would tell anyone who favored the m$ as a total lackey!

They have my complete trust since they're basically in the top three developers in the business if not the best. L4D was amazing and I expect nothing less from it's sequel :)
