E3 09: Nintendo Keynote Roundup

GrE writes, "Nintendo two years ago was the under dog coming into E3. The other companies had released their big new machines or at least the specs and what not, and were ready to put Niddy out of the race, like they had done with SEGA. Nintendo shocked the world with the unveiling of the Wii, and making a firm stand that they weren't going to do the flashy graphics of the other two and decided to just innovate on almost current technology they had been using in the Game Cube. Sure it had motion control, it was kiddie, and almost gimmicky, but no one could have expected the Nintendo Wii to sell as well as it did."

I think Nintendo did quite well this year!

DaRockSays3111d ago

Ya they rocked E3 wit Metroid and Mario and Wii life sensor heh

bgrundman3111d ago

The Vitality sensor is the biggest joke I have ever seen. Seriously Nintendo, who comes up with this crap?

CrAppleton3111d ago

I still say it might be good for Wii Fit.. or any type of cardio workout that might be in the works for the Wii

Neco5123111d ago

Love the way the new Super Mario Bros look! Can't wait to play them!

CrAppleton3111d ago

Super Mario FTW.. I love all of the Mario games.. and judging by sales.. so does everyone else

bgrundman3111d ago

That game is an instant preorder for me.

DaRockSays3111d ago

Anyone else sick of da motion controlz?

bgrundman3111d ago

Well Nintendo was the first to try it and get it somewhat right, so I think Microsoft and Sony should stick to what they do best... not copy Nintendo

CrAppleton3111d ago

Yeah.. I like what the Wii has done.. but I think Microsoft, while taking it to the next level.. has gone overboard.. I'm tired of motion controls.. only good when you have a bunch of friends over and you're drunk. LOL

Spolodaface3111d ago

I can't wait to see where this tense competition takes motion gaming and gaming in general though as each company will try and work on more impressive implementations of true next gen gaming.

Spolodaface3111d ago

wow, that's a great concise summary of the Nintendo conference. Pretty much a great showing from all the big 3 companies this year. Last year's E3 sucked balls.

CrAppleton3111d ago

Totally.. I think they've revitalized E3.. GREAT news for gamers

bgrundman3111d ago

good to see that they brought back the circus.

CrAppleton3111d ago

Booth babes right grundy?

For the most part I felt that Nintendo's keynote was either not exciting or downright yawn-inducing. That is, until they showed Metroid. Metroid saved their entire keynote for me. Sure, I love the two Mario games but they're not really NEW and EXCITING.

And the Vitality Sensor...really? WTF. What does this have to do with me, the gamer? I cannot possibly see how this would enhance my GAMING experience. They should have revealed this on Oprah or something.

E3 was specifically made for you GrE!?
WOWZERS! Go go gadget egocentric-chopter.

But seriously though, i can't understand how they come up with it...but Suda already had some ideas for it.

But i can imagine it being used in games were your own stress level has actuall effect on certain things.
Normally these things are pre-programmed.
