Day four of GamesRadar's Ace Combat 6 coverage is a retrospective on the whole series. See where the franchise has been, where it's going and what it's brought to the gaming masses over the years, But what do the actual developers think about the series? It's obvious they have a love for jets, missiles and fan service, but are there any ambitions left unfulfilled or projects that didn't quite pan out as planned? To get this point of view, GamesRadar quizzed the directors of each Ace Combat game that's ever appeared on a console. Now you get to hear what they think...
Namco was founded in 1955 and merged with Bandai in 2005. Between that long period, they have produced some of the most memorable franchises in gaming.
Namco Bandai has dominated the air combat genre with "Ace Combat" for years without much competition, but Ubisoft is taking the series head on with the Tom Clancy-branded "HAWX" in March. A Ubisoft developer told MTV Multiplayer one of the big differences between the two games is the element of realism brought to "HAWX."
IGN reports, "Leading video games developer and publisher Namco Bandai Games America Inc. announced today that the Ace Combat series has surpassed 10 million units sold worldwide, and that Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system has surpassed one million units sold in North America. Fueled by consistently entertaining and accessible gameplay as well as cutting-edge graphics, the series has remained a critical and commercial smash hit since its introduction in 1995."
Fuk Namco

Ahhh, yeah that feels better. =]
Why are you so upset Maddens?
Maddens! I've PM'ed you a thousand times! Why areyou blowing smoke!? It's only been announced for the 360...and not yet for the ps3. Every games site says, yes we expect it to come to the ps3 in the future...maybe even at the same time. I don't get why you don't understand that. What advantage is Ace Combat in the grand scheme of things? Microsoft aren't going to pay out to keep that, dont' you worry Maddens.
my brother...you are right and I owe you & the room a huge apology for my behavior thus far. I was convinced it was 360 only and that Ken was a turncoat. I even fired a letter to Namco management. Damn, I gotta calm down and lay off the coke (kidding). I failed to check the messages regularly and that / this is my fault. Carry on. Sorry KK.
