God of War III To Be 1080P Native?

We´ve all seen the E3 2009 footage of God of War III and you´d be a nut-case to say you were unimpressed. Everything about this game screams success; the graphics, audio, the intense action, but there is still one question that remains unanswered. Although it is widely speculated, no official sources have actually confirmed that the game is rendered at 1080p. After all, Sony did promise us native [email protected] gaming from launch, but we are still waiting. Several sites have listed God of War III to be among one of the few titles that is in fact 1080p native. Will be interesting to see whether or not there is any truth to this, considering that a vast majority of 1080p games are arcade ones. No game of this caliber has been rendered at a resolution higher than 720p on console previously.

The story is too old to be commented.

As exquisite as the game looks i SERIOUSLY doubt it will run at 1080p native. Its more important imo to clamp down on the 60fps first and taking care of the screen tearing before going for 1080p

One can only dream, my friend. :)

Be in E3 for God's sake and verify that by yourself with the developpers! Trying to attract people (and especially microsucks di**heads) with futile speculations coming out from your pre-puber mind is absolutely retarded!
We need facts and official affirmations!
Yes, God Of War 3 will run @ 1080p native with damn super high def details, animations, boobs & gore! the E3 demo was running @ 720p with variable framerates, but the retail version will fulfill its promise; Stig Asmussen, the director of the game affirmed that here: It is at 6:40 to 7: 30 (I think), so listen carefully!
PS: here is a tip for icognito sites like this one, try to be more informed! ;)
Edit: Sonarus can you check more FAMOUS sites for more accurate infos please? and have faith in God , in the PS3, and in the developpers ! Thanks

Hydrolex3479d ago

you got 4 agrees by Xbox 360 fans or people that have no idea !

PS3 can do even better than this !!

Uncharted 2 AKA THE BEST LOOKING Game after Crysis uses %70 of the power of PS3

Darkeyes3479d ago

I don't care if it runs at 720P or 1080P... the game looked freaking awesome at the demo. The graphics might even be comparable to games like Uncharted 2. The animations were spot on and the gameplay seemed even more gruesome then ever. This is GOW we are talking about. Even if the game has PS2 graphics, then too it will kick any games ass even on a bad day.

I just want to play this bad. The game looks good enough for me. The villas in the demo looked magnificent. I can't wait to see how Hades and the Titans look and play in the game.
And the GORE!!!! It was the first time I enjoyed someone's gut spill out and head being chopped off....

"After all, Sony did promise us native [email protected] gaming from launch, but we are still waiting. "

It's funny the sites said that when they already posted this:

They say they are still waiting but they forgot the recent titles and their own recent blog.

RememberThe3573479d ago

Kratos has yet the let me down.

Actually, if the game wasn't running in 1080p I still wouldn't really care. But I'm down with what ever they can do to push the system forward.

DarkAzureIIIX3479d ago

It's only 70% of what the final game will look like So...

Syronicus3479d ago

I will say that with the intense level of action this game will offer, I suspect it will run around 720 if it hits 60fps but I can more realistically see it running at 720 at 30fps. Nothing wrong with those numbers at all.

solidt123479d ago (Edited 3479d ago )

Stig said in his interview with G4 that it will mostly run at 60 frames but will fluctuated at times between 30-60 which is no problem. He gave an example from the first God of War stating that in very large battles the rate goes down to 30 but they had to to capture the epicness of that battle. May see the same think in GOW3, but again i rather have them lower the frame rate at certain points then to gimp the gameplay and boss battles.

Stig also said that it is running at 720p now but they are aiming for 1080p so we will just have to wait and see. No need to jump the gun. Either way it is a day one purchase and long as it looks great I could care less what the resolution and frames are. Look at Gears of War, Call of Duty Modern Warfare, and Killzone 2, These game aren't at the highest resolution or frames but they are some of the best looking games available.

but I thought to post the first! @ sonarus, stop being stupid!
here is a proof that the game will run @ 1080p, if by "mistake", my first comment get deleted:

The_Zeitgeist3479d ago

Wow that video was hilarious. The interviewer is a moron. He asks questions after the dude already answered them.

Chris Hansen3479d ago

I can care less if God of War 3 is 720p or 1080p. After watching the E3 live presentation, I JUST WANT THIS GAME, NOW!

Sarcasm3479d ago

Even if the game is 480p, I want it NOW!

theEnemy3479d ago

GoW and GoW2 on 480p,

I don't see myself NOT enjoying GoW3 even on 720p @30fps.

But I want this on March 2010.

They don't need to rush things. :D

lonz3583479d ago (Edited 3479d ago )

Why do people go crazy over graphics? I hear people say "OMG look at the graphics, best game ever"....yea it looks like God of War 3 but plays like God of War 1 and 2....I know I'm going to get a lot of disagrees because this is an Pees3 infested website but can you please prove me wrong?

edit: so you can't prove me wrong?

swiftshot933479d ago

The formula is the same, much like every other major franchise, but there are a bunch of new gameplay mechanics. Listing them would be a waist of time on a D troll.

Chris Hansen3479d ago

Hrmmm, lets see...

Halo 3 looks like Halo 2.5 and plays like Halo 2
GeoW2 looks like GeoW and plays like GeoW

Rob0g0rilla3479d ago (Edited 3479d ago )

"and let the hate begin"

My favorite.

"fanboys these days ^^^ grow up"

and then you say....

"because this is an Pees3 infested website"

Take your own advice. You even say you have a PS3 in attempt to bash PSN, but you go on to say your not getting one because of the price might drop. Your a horrible troll. It's not even entertaining. Just stop trying.....

Darkeyes3479d ago (Edited 3479d ago )

Ok I will prove you wrong lonz358....
In this game you can change the weapons on fly and design combos in the way you like..... The previous games had 4 combinations (4 weapons = 4 combos... since you couldn't change the weapons on fly for combos...) where as with this one, along with the 4 weapons, you also have the blade pull (you get pulled towards objects bigger to you where as smalled objects get pulled towards you)... that makes 5 set of ways to kill someone.. and changing ways on the fly means 120 different combos......

So in short, in the previous games, I could kill someone in 4 ways by 4 weapons, whereas here 120 different ways are applicable (like you can start with the blades and thrust enemy up in the air... Then use the Cestus to beat him to ground and then blade pull to dash into him..... 120 different permutations)...

So you get that.... The game might look same from the combat if you see, but when you play it, it is entirely different. If this doesn't drill something in your head, then nothing can.

I also support the theory 'if it ain't broke why fix it...' GOW got it absolutely right the first time... hence it seems hard to surpass it.. But the combat has significantly changed if you see from my perspective.
You can play it like a traditional GOW... meaning just rushing through with the blades and cutting everyone, but if you want to experiment, every enemy can be defeated in more than a 100 different ways as compared to 4 in GOW 1 & 2... ( I am not even counting defeating by magic powers.. that would give astronomical permutations and combinations.)

Nathan1233479d ago (Edited 3479d ago )

I agree with Darkeyes. The game does have a new combat system. Though it may not entirely be an overhaul, it works for me. I mean GOW1 got it spot on, so it's hard to trump it.

And Snaz358. Dude nearly every sequel out there copies the combat system of it's predecessors. At least PS3 games are getting a major graphical overhaul compared to the 360 games like Halo and Gears 2..

Have you even played a GOW game in your life? If no, then play one and then comment or else STFU. The combat system is newer and more refined in each games with new weapons. Even if this GOW only has good graphics and nothing more, then too it kicks the crap out of any 360 game produced till date. The sheer EPICNESS of the story and gameplay will kick the crap out of anything you throw at it.

shadow27973479d ago (Edited 3479d ago )

Along with what the others above me said, you do know there's like a story, right? Not to mention playing like God of War 1 and 2 isn't a bad thing. They both were a blast. If this game was released on PS2 and played exactly like God of War 2, people would still love it.

The fact that it looks gorgeous and has improved on its predecessors is icing on the delicious cake that is this franchise.

If it's not your thing, that's cool, but if that's the truth, why troll it?

The Director of God of War 3 confirmed that the game is currently running in 720p. He said that by the time the game is released it will definitely run in 1080p native. Actually, he said that the team would get the game in that state soon.

Also, the game has been confirmed to run at 60 FPS, but will dip down seamlessly to 30 FPS in some of the bigger moments of the game. The frame rate will then go back to 60 FPS for the majority of the game.

Also, it has been confirmed for God of War 3 to have a small install before starting the game, but there will then be no loading times for the rest of the game. This is to help with pop-in and screen tearing.

Someone who is not illiterate or deaf! Thanks man for listening to real infos coming from REAL sources like gamespot and the director himself!
