From The Site...While Speaking at the Reuters Global Technology Summit in Tokyo last week, Capcom CFO Kazuhiko Abe has revealed that Resident Evil 5 has sold 5 million copies worldwide since launch.
this game deserves every sale :D
Great sales, but I thought this game had a bigger following... It spawn several games, and several movies. Am I wrong?
Good. It was a good game, now Capcom it's time to modernize the gameplay for the next installment. It doesn't have to be a complete revamp just upgrade the gameplay experience like Metal Gear did from 3 to 4.
good game, but did not deserve to sell 5 million copies.
RE4 was one of my favorite games of last-gen.. 5 was awesome and I loved playing through it with a buddy who loved 4 as much as I did (playing with someone who actually understands the story/characters and gets excited at the same great moments makes the game that much better). I was disappointed at the lack of scares, but I couldn't help but find the cash spent on the game justified. Not like Capcom needs the millions and millions of dollars.. but I'm happy to see solid sales, because that usually ends up meaning a sequel is on the way (at SOME point, anyway.....).
well deserved well done capcom
Hats of to Capcom. Good job on the game. They could have done a better job with the extra charge for the "Versus" mode. Someone above mention that they thought the RE series had a bigger following. It does, but look at what great games are currently out there to play too.
@PorcelainGod - There's no need for name calling. Thw demo was okay, but honestly I have been playing KZ2, Gears 2, and Fallout 3 to have time for it now. So I did not buy RE5, but to call someone else an idiot for buying a game is not necessary. edit: Why did you not like the game? I know a lot of people were turned off by Capcom not sticking to the original roots of the RE series. Is that it or did it just totally suck for you, game play, graphics, etc? How much of the game did you play?
what a stupid game. nothing about this game is even close to good. the fact that "zombies" can shoot guns and ride in vehicles is just plain retarded. the control scheme is just horrible. this game got its sales from the previous 4 games. easily one of the worst/overhyped piece of garbage games ive played this gen.
"Almost as bad as GTA4. A garbage game selling to idiots who will buy anything with a famous name on the cover. " There you have it ladies and gents, the great and all mighty Dumba$$ does not like RE5, so anybody who does like it is an "idiot".... Lol!, control scheme to difficult for you?!?!?... So, now I'm curious...is the halo name considered to be for idiots or intelligent beings?
After RE 2 it kinda went down hill for me. That's when I fell in love with Silent hill. But then after Silent hill 2, that series went down hill as well. What the hell is up with these sequels.
@ above Totally agree, Resident Evil 5 is one hell of a game and I hope it sells ten million. Congrats Capcom!
I think it was a great game if we put aside the fact that it wasn't true to resident evil roots.
LOL. thats a huge contribution.
so make it 5,000,001
huge contribution lol
That's good, more used copies there will be on the cheap when I'm ready to buy it.
the co op is just really good... have to really rely on the other turd for the ammo.. you need a good partner to enjoy this game
But a good partner makes the game REALLY enjoyable.
I liked it-co-op is fun btw.
Looks like there will be a RE6 then.
serious swagger... your not so serious here are you ? funny
Instead of RE6 most likely being the next RE game, i would like to see an Outbreak sequel.
sounds good, but they'd have stiff competetion from left 5 dead i guess... i think re 6 is much better path coz a next gen racoon city would be a really refreshing sight...
without any disrespect but OUTBREAK was crap.
Great news. Now bring it to Wii,Capcom
Agreed, even though i hate wii i still believe that everyone should be able to play a brilliant game like this.
It was ok. What i meant was take the Outbreak formula with RE5 camera angle, big enviroment and 4-8 player co-op.
That might turn out to be nice.
r2 and r1>>>>>>> all re after this period... and is mult r5, r1 sell around 6.0 in ps1 exclusive imo... epic fail for r5.
You guys are sad little men. A game isn't great only if it sticks to its roots. Just see it as a totally different game if it makes you feel better. This game is definately in my top 5 this gen so far, cuz I don't live in the past and I know how to appreciate good things.
There is really nothing wrong with taking a new direction. And it's not like it's the last RE game either.
It isn't just that it strays from what makes it a RE game is it? It's more, for me, part of a general malaise of average games from my favourite developer. RE5 was NO good to you as a SP game and compared to other "action" zombie titles like L4D even the online stuff was a bit drab(though, admittedly a good laugh to go through ONCE with a good mate). And if they wanted to go the action route than, really they shouldn't have kept the controls which make the Vs content absolutely without point. I just hope that LP2 is far btter than the first game and starts them back on track to thekind of form we used to enjoy from them. People don't like to admit it but Capcom just aren't making games as good as they used to.
I completely agree with you Mastiffchild. atleast on the RE5 front (as I'm not one for fighting or hack slash) Re5 is a good game on it's own and can be enjoyable, but I find that as a sequel to RE4 it is dissapointing and due to the main game's story or seeming lackof it lakcs replayability. (for me) Re 4 was 14 hours long, it was really well paced and had you almost going back and fourth at points but it wasn't teadious. Re5 just has you go through straight to the end, not only is it dissapointingly linear, it's dissapointingly short. the pacing, as I just mentioned, in 4 was beautiful, it had moments where it was quiet, or not overly busy. and there was some truly atmospheric moments too. The village at night and the first regenerator. followed later on by the action, that can be temporarily overwhelming. Re5 just seems to throw loads of enemies at you constantly. There's no tension, the one moment where they really could have kept some horror, they merely threw the enemy (the one hit kill creature 5-2). Resident evil used to be about desperaion, to an extent and now it's just walk shoot walk. I miss the merchant too, stranger!
