In the latest "Spellborn" patch, Acclaim and Spellborn International have increased the free-to-play level cap of the freemium MMORPG from 7.9 to 9.9.
As no agreement could be reached between Frogster Asia and Dutch licensor Spellborn NV, the MMO Chronicles of Spellborn is closing in Asia.
Acclaim operates servers for the MMO in North America. The game has been beset by woe since its launch, with its dev team bankrupt a while back.
Initially there were issues with releasing the North American beta on the same day of European release, something that split the community and dulled the unveiling. Upon release of the game in North America, confusion almost immediately set in as to how to pay for the subscription.
Massively has always wondered what happened to one of their favorite free-to-play games, The Chronicles of Spellborn. It's still a great game, don't get them wrong, and is completely free to play. A new version is even supposed to come out at some point, essentially the same game but with a cash-shop that features different travel items and armors.
