Pocket-Lint Review: InFamous

Pocket-Lint: InFamous is most certainly an enjoyable game. While some of your powers start off at a lowly level, the chance to traverse a crumbling city with little worries is a true joy.

It's just a shame that the visuals weren't a few notches more impressive and a little more variety added to the missions. Which leaves us with merely an impressive title rather than a fully-fledged classic.

I don't think I've heard of this site before this review; granted, they could be big, but I've never heard of them.

I personally find it a little insulting when the first time I hear of a site from a review. It almost seems like some sort of pandering or something.

If they made a though-provoking article or two that I've read then I could at least respect the review, although I may still dismiss it out of the odds that they actually got a review copy because lesser-known sites don't get review copies. Having picked-through their site, they seem to be another copy-and-paste article dump; not unlike every other run of the mill wannabe game site out there.

CGreviews.com already got caught doing that. I also read the review so again I doubt this review is valid based upon known information because it supplies no new information or details that could not be ascertained from videos or the demo.

I mean, read it for yourself and tell me if everything they said couldn't be read off of the demo impressions.

I read it. Although I agree that there is nothing special about the review (if you've read one, you've read 'em all), they *do* mention a couple of things that I didn't know from the demo (the reason Cole can't use guns, for example).

So, while I agree that it's best not to make a decision of whether or not to buy the game based solely on this review, I don't think they pretended to have played the game.

But as I alluded to a second ago, all of the reviews--be it a perfect 10 or a 7--say the same things about the game: It's a fun game, visuals could have been better, missions can get repetitive, etc etc.

It just so happens that some of these things are real sticking points for particular reviewers, while others aren't bothered as much. One reviewer might make an offhand comment about some missions getting a tad repetitive, but overall they are fun, while another reviewer will go all out to convince you the the missions are boring.

There comes a point where you just have to play the game for yourself and make your own decision.

Personally, I can only read so many reviews before getting sick and tired of all their critical eyes picking apart things that I'm bound to never even notice.

Game on!

There were several interviews from Sucker Punch that stated the fact that Cole couldn't use guns.

I mean,it's cool that they brought that to light, but it's really old news.

If I had Incredible lightning shooting abilities, Why would I use guns?

And seriously, what open-world game has better graphics than this? Actually, what game besides PS3 exclusives have better graphics than this?

what people were expecting in terms of visuals. KZ2 level of visuals in a Sandbox game?.

I think this is one of the downside of why its not very good having PS3 exclusive games like KZ2 setting the visual bar too high. Everyone else now expects other PS3 exclusives to have similar graphics.

...all they have to do is compare this sandbox game to other sandbox games instead of to a game that even makes PC games look a little lacking. inFAMOUS has the best graphics out there for a sandbox game.
