Apple's iPhone will be released on June 11

Ever since Steve Jobs' keynote at the Macworld Expo in January, we've known that the iPhone is being released sometime in June. But we haven't known exactly when.

Now Cingular is confirming that the release date will be June 11. A customer service manager at Cingular (we called 800-947-5096 and were transferred to sales) gave us that date late Thursday, but, alas, said he didn't have any additional information beyond that..... (Industry, Mobile, Tech)

No 3G?
Has that been confirmed?? If this is on Cingular and doesn't support 3G it is a total waste!! Thanks for the info because I was going to pick one up.. But also thanks for raining on my parade! (j/k)

haha yeah it's like "timed exclusives"
But I'm sure it will come to the other carriers just like all the other phones out there. I hope they don't actually have an exclusive deal forever that would not be right and they are limiting their potential customer base.

You are correct, Cingular is the only one who will offer this phone. Verizon passed on this phone 2 years ago because Apple was asking for to much money including part of the customers monthly bill.

3G is just another provider like far as i know it was the first provider to provide video phone calls, but now has allot goin for it and the iphone would be perfect for it!

Enno that's not what 3G is
3G is another way of saying third generation technology. It's a faster way to transfer data. Say serfering the web or downloading info. It's like having broadband internet on your cell phone instead of the slow dial up like service this phone will offer. I wanted an iphone but this phone costs too much to not offer 3G service. I'll wait until it offers 3G.

Too big ?
Am I the only person who thinks that the iPhone looks massive in that guy's hand?

Everytime I see that official photo it always strikes me how big it looks. Is it just the way they've done the photo? Has anyone seen it in real life and can confirm how it looks?

I'll wait for reviews....
but a phone with 8gigs of memory can store a lot of info and music.

but then again you could just use an iPod/nano like me, or go with creative (they seem pretty good) or maybe Sony Walkman (although i havnt heard much good talk about them as i have the others)
