Satoru Iwata, President and CEO of Nintendo, has admitted that Shigeru Miyamoto "is not God." Morever, Iwata explained that some software have "turned out to be lacking something in the end."
mmm, I don't think Iwata meant "god" as in how some gamers see him as "god"( like so many see kojima as god), but he was simply expressing that he is only human and does not everything perfect... People might get the wrong idea out of this article.
Well just as I expected, the Disagrees shows the actuall intelligence here.
I think he was just trying to say "buh buh Square Enix is still good without him", which I kinda disagree. Miyamoto pretty much WAS Squaresoft and you can tell how much the company has changed since he left and merged with Enix.
Different Miyamoto guy... this is Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario. The Miyamoto you're thinking of is still a major shareholder in Square Enix.
Oops...I have Sakaguchi on the brain lol...I wanted him to say "Sakaguchi isn't god" so bad lol...my bad
My Lord Miyamoto turn the unbeliever into a pillar of salt.
The man built niny without him they be back making playing cards....
He isn't? The man pretty much single-handedly stopped the video game crash. Pretty awesome in my book.
He used to create great things but after the likes of Wii music he has defenatly lost his touch and his mind
"He used to create great things but after the likes of Wii music he has defenatly lost his touch and his mind " What about mario galaxy>>? Wasnt it his idea for the spherical landscapes..even the people making the game at nintendo thought it was crazy until he demo'd it for them to see. And look how that turnded out. GOTY on most sites (if not all) and magazines I love how people are so blind sometimes.
Shigeru throwing fireballs at Iwata, then Iwata sucking in Miyamoto ala Kirby.
we all know that since the major failure called wii music
Miyamoto-san is simply a very good game designer. That is all. Seeing him as a "god" just because almost every game he makes is a hit, doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, and just shows how much some developers(and even gamers) need to grow up and see it for what it is.
An explanation would be nice. If I am wrong, then why don't you reply... I wasn't implying that Miyamoto isn't great, he is, but he is only human, and calling him a "god" is kinda exaggerating.
Miyamoto's great for precisely what Iwata said. He's good at completely turning a game around if it doesn't impress him.
yeah he is, he created Mario.
For me, Miyamoto is a god.
Well, thank goodness we got THAT resolved. :o
For those of you who think Miyamoto is a God, I feel sorry for you. Miyamoto is just like any of us....well besides the fact that he poops golden eggs.
can he be a god anymore when he created wiifit and wiimusic......yeah maybe once, but not anymore.
Did anyone actually read the article. It's more concerned with the fact that Miyamoto is only human and can't always predict how long production will take nor does he get everything right the first time, which makes production longer. This is a response to, once again, gamers whining about there not being enough games made by Nintendo.
Him being behind Wii music at least proves even god has faults... but even his faults sell over a million. Damned casuals
But Wii music wasn't flawed as a concept, its "us" who aren't jumping for it. It sill managed to sell over 2 million. =)
There's also a lot of information pointing to Miyamoto not even being directly involved with Wii Music's production, it was just his idea and even then, his desire for 100 songs wasn't fulfilled. But the game actually works just fine, it delivered everything it promised, just most gamers didn't want what it promised in the first place.
his brother maybe
he lost his touch
If you mean since 2008, then yes. But he did make the best Mario game 2007 and the best Zelda game 2006.
but maybe you shouldn't make such statements public about the man who basically gave birth to the greatest(and best selling) IPs ever
[email protected] saying he should not say this. It is true and gamers are being unreasonable. Give him time better yet give them 3rd parties and it's over.
he is not god.. but man, he is awesome... like, say one guy that never heard of mario, everyone knows mario, even outside gaming... it's crazy...
One of the reasons why Miyamoto is highly praised is because of his ability to stop, rethink about, and fix how he can convey the appeal of a software when he finds out during the latter phase of development that the software will not be good enough. This is why the games he has worked on have a high batting average to produce big hits. However, he is not God and even Miyamoto himself cannot hit the mark every time nor always predict how long it takes to complete development. I believe my management job is to set parameters of the development timeframe, and with this uncertainty in mind, to plan our product launch timings without too much time between each one, but it is not easy to get this down perfectly…”
As much as core gamers hate what he has been doing recently.. he is responsible for more than doubling the size of the games industry in just a few years - which is a good thing for us.
