At last! Someone has seen the light! Finally, joe public might see that there are actually alternatives to Microsoft Windows...

As far as gaming, I would agree... There's only a handful of commercial games that have Linux native versions...

But as far as being a workstation... You've got Maya for Linux, as well as a BOATLOAD of development tools, music production tools (SuperCollider... 'Nuff said), and much more...

Not to mention, you've got Beryl, which TRUMPS any kind of eye-candy Windows or MacOS has to offer...

I've been using OpenSuSE as the primary OS on my laptop for close to a year now, and you couldn't convince me to go back to Windows...

Can you play DX10 games on linux, i don't know, that's why i'm asking. I'm not being a smartass.

hfaze3891d ago

Nope... No DX10 games as of yet... The best thing to check into as far as playing Windows games on Linux is to check out Cedega http://www.transgaming.com/...

Now, once more game companies start putting out Linux native clients (Thanks ID Software and Epic!!!), things will start heating up as far as Linux gaming goes...

I'm getting better framerates with UT2004 for Linux than I do in Windows (admittedly, only around 5 or 6 FPS better, but it plays liquid smooth)

Hope they put KUbuntu distro, Edgy Eft :D

And you can pretty much do anything with it, even run Vista from inside Linux.
