Hot on the heels of the Blu-ray playing PlayStation 3, Sony has revealed details of its first dedicated Blu-ray player for the UK.
The glass and aluminium-finished BDP-S1E, which is set for a "summer 2007" launch, shoots out 1080p Hi-Def video from Blu-ray discs. That's pretty much par for the course, but this is also the first player around that can do this at 24 frames per second, accurately matching the speed of real film shot on a proper cine camera. This means that it'll be serving up your movies exactly how the filmmaker intended.
An exact release date and price are yet to be confirmed, although some online sources are already speculating that it'll be on sale in May for a smidge under £1,000. Better start saving those pennies, home cinema nuts.
