Game: Wanted: Weapons of Fate Review

Game writes: "Created by experienced Euro-developer GRIN (also working on the Terminator Salvation tie-in) Wanted: Weapons of Fate is part of a new breed of movie licence - games that don't just ape the film they're based on, but instead expand the story appropriately in a whole new direction. It's an interesting way to further explore characters and their worlds without remaining slavish to the film's plot (or, indeed, its release date), and it certainly seems to have worked here.

Set after the events of the film, Weapons of Fate is a third-person shooter, slamming you into the boots of anti-hero Wesley Gibson, the deadliest member of a secretive assassins' guild, now hunting down the French killer who murdered his mother. In a few flashback sequences you also get to play as his legendary father, fleshing out the movie story a little further. There are a few interesting tweaks to the standard 'run-and-gun' formula. Firstly, the cover system is a little more dynamic than the Gears of War set-up, with icons encouraging you to make swift progress between pieces of scenery. Wesley vaults, slides, dives and rolls into position with athletic skill, and once you get to grips with the controls, it can make for some exhilarating and cinematic manoeuvres..."
