1Up & Kotaku Confirm Next PSP Story, 1 Week Later

PlayStation LifeStyle writes, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Kotaku and 1Up seemed to have recently received the memo we sent out last week about the next PSP, tentatively named "PSP Go". The funny thing is, neither site bothered to cite sources for their information, though Kotaku claims they were tipped off by "PJ and Mr. Wednesday". Evidently Professor Plum and Colonel Mustard had the day off."

why are they complaining? When was the last time psls ever cited there source?

Chubear3513d ago

Ahhh, that was a good read lol

Slightly different. PSLS dont obtain their news (or at least Sev doesnt) from other websites. Generally it's good practice to credit said websites when you do because without them, you'd have no news to post.

But, I'd say this is hardly the first time this has happened and far from the last. Some of the smaller sites out there get their hits purely by leeching articles from others, twisting the headline for controversy and generally submitting them here.

Kotaku/1Up, both big sites that personally I think should know better. It doesnt take much to credit your source.

Johnny Rotten3513d ago

Destructoid should've been getting the credit about a month ago.

The bold lies Kotaku is telling me in Email.

Johnny Rotten3513d ago

OH OH looks like Destructoid had the same sources 1 month earlier.

DJ3512d ago

But the Destructoid video was just speculation and rumor discussion, while apparently the PSLS article was completely factual and went as far as to deny a lot of rumors about the new PSP.

Don't bother debating with any of Kotaku's editors, especially via e-mail. From firsthand experience, they're about a pig-headed as you can get. If they're wrong, they're right. If you're right, you're wrong.

I wonder what the new 1UP team is like...

Computer issue? ._.

Nice. I miss that show so much..

Oooh ok the article is back online now.

The point is, I read the original PSLS article, and it was based purely on speculation. Similarly - the 1up article cites "sources" as their source... I'd assume they are privvy to more inside information than a small Wordpress blog -- I'm not putting Lifestyle down, merely stating the obvious.

There was no need for this article, certainly not frontpage "news" is it.

If you feel it's neccessary to address your audience then fair enough, but this doesn't need to be on N4G - nor do you have any reason to believe you were "copied without a source" -- you just posted the same speculation everyone has been posting lately.

Nothing about our article was speculation. In fact, we were separating fact from fiction in all the other speculation articles that have floated about the Net. While we couldn't name our source, we do have one, and we even said as much in the article.

DoucheVader3512d ago

So what, they lack credibility in my eyes now.
