NintendoDpad reports: "Red Steel 2 is coming for Wii and we couldn't be more excited; I mean look at the above pic. Among the few features announced we couldn't understand why the title would not incorporate multiplayer."
for like an hour before I got bored of it. It wasn't very responsive, I hope the motion plus can make the controls more responsive.
agreed i feel that was really the only huge drawback to the first. This time around im really hoping you can dual wield with 2 Motion Plus enabled controllers.
its prob because instead of putting all that effort into a multi-player which the majority of Wii owners prob wont play, they will put all their focus on the Sp campaign. ... OR, their budget has been cut haha
Dammit..... push it back if you need to.. just put online in there ubisoft.
I expected the Wii not to need Wii Motion Plus. Anyway, I bet there is no multiplayer because of Wii's limitations.
But...there are already shooters with multiplayer...so I doubt it's because of that...especially considering that they are cel-shading instead of making realistic graphics like HVS.
UBISOFT ARE NOT GETTING MY MONEY NO MULTIPLAYER AND ITS TOOK 3 YEARS THEY HAVNT BEEN CONSTANTLY WORKING ON THE GAME TO BUSY MAKING BLOCKBUSTER TITLES ON 369/PS3 SO NOT BUYING IT NOT EVEN IF THE GRAPHICS ARE BEYOND IMAGINATION NO NO NO SOMEONE EMAIL UBISOFT TELL THR EM WERE NOT INTERESTED ANYMORE CONDUIT DEVS LISEN TO WII OWNERS UBISOFT LISEN TO 360 OWNERS 5 GAMES MUST HAVE CAME TO 360 ALL WITH MP IN THE TIME ITS TOOK TO GET RED STEEL COWBOY OUT PEACE WII ONLY GAMER RIGHT HERE
All I can say is... wow.
Sorry but i dont think there is any valid excuse for no mp in a fps . There has been plenty sp oriented fps , and obviously they wouldnt be great or as good in mp , but it still an option that is a nice "gesture" .. like at least some basic deathmatch . Take timeshift , it's mp blows (i think the entire game do however) , but they still tried to incorporate their time control concept in a new way for the mp , and some people really enjoyed it back then . There are always people who enjoy a mp in the worst fps ...
Half-Life 2 Metroid Prime 1 and 3 (oh, and the multiplayer 2 was no fun) Bioshock You obviously don't need multiplayer to have a great FPS adventure. Just cause the developers don't want to deal with the hassle doesn't mean they are just being lazy or anything like that. If this means perfected sword combat and better game design than I'm willing to sacrifice multiplayer, especially with The Conduit already going to be released.
Hl2 did have a multi . It appeared quite quickly after the release . Wich means they at least worked hard to include it . And it was a pretty decent mp further enhanced with mods . You caught me on metroid prime , except for two things that will make me looks like i'm seeking some form of escape . First being that i didnt really consider metroid as much as a fps per se , but rather the platform adventure game it usually was . But ok it still true , yet still they still tried adding it , even on DS .. and guess what ? It was fun to some people ... so is the most basis mp of any fps , even the crappiest one ... again for some people . Now bioshock , i'm caught again . And then again i mostly regarded it as some sort of rpg hybrid . So it never crossed my mind , nor would it for Thief or Oblivion . Besides let's be more serious for a second , who even believe that red steel 2 is going to match any of those 3 games we talked about ? And how putting a basic and even unbalanced multi going to hurt their sp ? That's some very cheap cop out from a big company as ubisoft . One that as been btw caught too often churning out pretty mediocre wii games whenever they didnt involve the rabbids .
With the sword mechanic having motion plus support, I think they could make a game that rivals any of those games...maybe not in story, but in innovative gameplay. If you don't want to consider Metroid Prime or Bioshock "true FPS games", then don't consider Red Steel an FPS, when it could be more of an first person adventure (that just so happens to have guns and swords). Point is, FPS is an FPS is an FPS. Speaking of sword mechanics, maybe they had problems when it came to incorporating sword and gun play into multiplayer and they don't want to spend that much time working on making multiplayer. Teams have budgets, and perhaps if their goal from the beginning was to make a multiplayer game that refines already well established gameplay elements (kinda like The Conduit), then we would probably have multiplayer, but no multiplayer might possibly mean a long epic FPS game with great sword play.
Honestly they cash in on RS1 and sold over 1 million units then go 101% full party shyt on Wii... then 3 years later RS2 no MP... IDK about you guys but HVS bringing Conduit in a bit over a year with everything they did, and I can assume UBI are a bigger dev than them. SO I can only guess they are to busy making other SW for the HD consoles and will allocate minimal resources to the wii. That's fine but I hope they put some dam work on this, because you can fool people once but we don't fool easily the second time.
Over 40 hours of game play I want my multiplayer. I'm tired of these 6~8 hour affairs
Amen sir. I don't mind short games occasionally, if they have enough features to give them replay value and really exceptional gameplay, but I'm getting sick of high profile Wii titles that can be finished in a weekend (see: MadWorld, HotD: OVERKILL). OVERKILL has lots of replay value, thanks to all of the unlockable weapons and modes and the presence of co-op multiplayer, but I almost regret buying MadWorld since I don't expect to return to it very often. Metroid Prime 3 did not have multiplayer, but it also had a single player campaign that was 20+ hours long and an accomplishments system. If Red Steel 2 is of a similar length and depth, then all is forgiven, but if it is another six hour single player campaign with few to no additional features, forget it.
yeah Im getting sick off allt those short games mostly on the 360 and ps3 *cough* RE5 *cough* most games today are turning into interactive movies not games :@
Exactly. Just imagine 14 player multiplayer. That would keep me in. Just at least add DLC and online CO-OP!!! The western setting is cool. 20 years after Red Steel 1 I guess (i live in a desert-like area, I know there are no current metropolises in the area, except maybe Albuquerque and Pheonix, I don't know).
One of the most polished games this gen did not have multiplayer or online. Alot of games seems to rely on online multiplayer components for replayability. This does not affect my interest in the game one bit. The single player endeavor seems to be a dying breed. If the game is good and is indeed "revolutionary" then that is all I need. WM+ is pretty much all I need to be sold anyway. We'll see how it turns out.
Awwww MP would have been nice but we have the conduit for that so no problems there. Some thing tells me they don't have a fun FPS melee weapon built for the game. Motion plus is fine yet these guys should check out offset which is a FP-RPG like zelda. Man does the industry need good game play designers right now. The art seems ok at least but ubi's game play even on the HD systems has been horrible. It's like we are going thru the bimbo phase of game design, just make it pretty and copy some thing else.
That's a bummer. They had better make it a truly innovative SP game. It better be long and have a real gem plot. Otherwise, ubi had better prepare to see their game totally eclipsed by the conduit. Who managed a 12 hour campaign on top of a diverse multiplayer mode. I mean is it really that hard to work with motion plus? EA is popping out 3 or 4 games with support that haven't taken too long(like a year and a half). I dunno Red steel 1 was such a dissapointment that i'm definately waiting for reviews to see if this one is worthwhile.
They did start completely over though about a year or so ago. The higher ups were not at all impressed with what the original developer was doing so they gave it to a new team. That may be one of the major reasons. I dont mind really. People keep calling it a FPS but since when did FPS involve sword fighting? The draw to the game isnt the shooting, at least not for me. I'm in it for the sword fighting and the unique experience the game as a chance to deliver.
I think single player should be focused on by more Ubisoft games. To be frank, Ubi has never made a great online game. RSV and Chaos theory were ok...but not amazing. Make it control great, look good, and be a solid 14 hours long and I sold.
Not trying to be rude my friend but when you ask "since when did FPS involve sword fighting?" Halo has those annoying swords too. I know it's not the main focus of the game but their in there.
