Capcom's Takeuchi quiet on Lost Planet 2 PS3

Capcom has fuelled speculation that it is readying confirmation of a PS3 version of Lost Planet 2 after it revealed plans for some "big" announcements at E3.

Capcom caused a degree of controversy when it announced Lost Planet 2 in February. The game is currently down for release only on the Xbox 360, although the company has been careful to avoid using the term "exclusive" when describing it.

During Capcom's Captivate 09 event, Lost Planet 2 producer Jun Takeuchi was asked about the possibility of the game coming to the PS3. He replied: "The game is coming out on Xbox 360. Probably you want to know if it's coming to other platforms other than the 360. We are not ready to announce anything about that at this time."

Stop stalling the inevitable, Capcom. We all know it's coming.

This certainly seems to point to the idea that Capcom will be releasing this on the PS3.

It seems they are trying to build up the hype for it and will announce it at E3.

I'm sure MS gave them something to make it a timed exclusive. Let them enjoy it. A word to the wise Capcom: new games drop all the time and paying almost full price for a year old game is not exactly what most PS3 owners do.

really,it will look better on ps3 anyway

Dannagar3219d ago

@timestoby

Nothing ever looks better on Playstation 3.

"Nothing ever looks better on Playstation 3. "

Except when humans who aren't blind open their eyes and look at the PS3 exclusives in terms of visual presentation and technical feat.

So that rules you out.

ThanatosDMC3219d ago

Well, from a business stand point they want to make the most money. They'll take timed exclusivity at the right price then rake in what PS3 owner would give them afterward. I just hope they really optimize it for the PS3. Making sandwiches is such a hassle.

Dark_Vendetta3219d ago

I think the only thing preventing Lost Planet 2 from coming to the Ps3 are the rumoured differences between Takeuchi and Sony. But I bet Capcom will try everything to bring the game to other platforms

AKNAA3219d ago

This reminds me of the square enix big announcement at E3 last year that was in favor of the 360. But apparently, it seems like its the other way around now?!

Doesn't know how to make PS3 games so please don't bother.

WildArmed3219d ago

I LOVED (well maybe thats a bit extreme).. well liked.. (i'd give it a 8/10) the first game on 360.
When I plyed it on PS3, it was a crappy port.
No thanks. Already got enough games on PS3, lets just make it a good game for my PC or 360.

PirateThom3219d ago

It's not a matter of "if", but "when".

Day and date? 6 months? 12 months?

The "timed exclusive pretend its exclusive" trick doesn't work when every other game has come to another platform.

PirateThom3219d ago

I don't disagree with you. Almost certainly, anyone who really wanted it will have played the game on another platform, but that's not the argument here.

himdeel3219d ago (Edited 3219d ago )

...if they don't release them at the same time then they might as well not release it at all. Looking at previous games that were released as a timed exclusive clearly show that releasing on all platforms at the same time is the way to go if they want the most bang for their yen er buck.

Likewise delaying a release they run the risk of having to compete with other games exclusives later and the fact that most players that showed some interest initially may have moved on to other games. If they don't release both at the same time it could also makes it more difficult for them if they have planned DLC which is bad enough after the SF4 and RE5 DLC.

nycredude3219d ago

Why is everyone making this game out to be so good and so important? I played the Ps3 version and not only is the tech underwelming, the game is meh also compared to what is out there.

PirateThom3219d ago

Becuase it's "exclusive". Lost Planet was a decent, but not fantastic game, the sequel does look a lot better, so maybe they have learned from what needed to be fixed.

Shane Kim3219d ago

The first one was really, really crappy indeed. But this one looks miles better. I'll probably buy it when it comes to PS3, even though I dislike it when devs are handing over one year old games at full price.

nycredude3219d ago

This may be a blessing in disguise. Ps3 has so many games already that it is hurting my wallet and time management. I will probably do the same thing I did with LP1 on ps3 buy it for $10 bucks used so Crapcom doesn't get a penny of my money for this douche move!

Hopefully Sony will give us a break with the exclusive so we can enjoy some multiplat games.

its inevitable capcom e3 is coming in one month
