Harry Slater: "I'm sure that there are excellent and enjoyable visual novels out there, ones that handle character with subtlety, story with passion, and don't treat the reader like an uninitiated idiot - but Lux-Pain isn't one of them. If you're interested in stories told the Japanese way then it'd be better to wait and see if any other visual novels get localised, or to just go and buy some Manga. If you're interested in gameplay then you're better off buying an actual game. Lux-Pain is tiresome, poorly handled dross that fails at everything it tries to do and as the standard bearer for its genre in the West, this pointless mess should be shot down, ignored and forgotten. Then, hopefully, we might be treated to some of the gems of this under-represented niche."
