UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo Far Too Easy

Andrew Weymes of The Nightly Gamer writes: "Mixed martial arts is clearly on the rise in popular culture. What was once thought of as barbaric when compared to other combat sports such as boxing is now well respected and held in the same regard for the most part. Fighters like Chuck Liddell, Anderson Silva, BJ Penn and George St-Pierre are some of the most renown and respected professional fighters in the world. It's no surprise that THQ is jumping on the popularity of the sport and releasing a UFC fighting game in the same vein as their extremely popular WWE Smackdown series. The demo for UFC 2009 Undisputed hit the Xbox Live market place the other day and while the production values are certainly high, the fighting itself is not the best. Much like the way that the Smackdown series has much more appeal to fans of the WWE, UFC 2009 Undisputed likely won't appeal to those that haven't already bought into the MMA craze."

Let me beat the crap out of this guy a few times and see how is easy opinion is changed.

lociefer3516d ago

dont u just love ppl who pull crap outa their a$$es and post it ? maybe this guy should have checked the difficulty settings wich are normally set on beginner and change it to extreme instead of posting nonsence

MrWeymes3516d ago (Edited 3516d ago )

I would have liked for matches to be available online in the demo. Also, I did change the difficulty setting to extreme and it's extremely easy using the tactics I describe in the article.

Pennywise3516d ago

Online would of been nice to see how it play... WWE plays fine online, I expect the same here.

Playing VS a person is different then playing the AI.

I think they could tone down catching punches/kicks to a minimum, but just because you catch a kick doesn’t mean it is going to benefit you. If the player you are playing knows how to counter, it could put you in a bad position. Me and my buddy played this game for a good 10 hours since release and I am going to buy this game. Seems like pure VS fun.

MrWeymes3516d ago

I didn't have the pleasure of playing VS with a human opponent but I found the A.I insanely easy on any difficulty setting. I just don't think that the UFC is translating well to the video game world based on this demo. MMA is very exciting to train and watch but the fights in this game seem rather dull and slow paced.

I have a lot of issues with the Smackdown series as well. It really hasn't evolved much over the years. Games like Wrestlemania 2000 for the Nintendo 64 have better control schemes even to this day. Smackdown needs to evolve big time, especially considering that I have just got back into watching the WWE. :)

thanx i didnt know u can change the difficulty... i got tired of kicking chuck in da faceee.

If you did and managed to get out of shoguns mounts more than 2 times before getting knocked out, I bow down to you. Yes on the easiest difficulty it is easy(too easy) on the hardest tho its almost impossible, early knockouts are the only way, try lasting two rounds, then your good, try three and you’re beyond godlike, it took me 3 hours of practice and is the only game that has made me want to break something(seriously the ONLY one).

MrWeymes3516d ago

Yes, I was refering to the hardest difficulty in this article for the most part. You should probably go through the tutorial once more. It's dull but it's needed to win matches in extreme.

lh_swe3516d ago

So you say you can get out of shoguns mounts more than 3 times without getting knocked out?

MrWeymes3516d ago

If I get mounted, it's somewhat difficult to get out but I was able to stuff all his takedowns with Liddell and just switch between high and low kicks until a knockout occurs in extreme several times in a row.

MrWeymes3515d ago

Yes, we've all over-dosed on win-cakes.

DelbertGrady3515d ago (Edited 3515d ago )

I loved it but my only gripe is that submissions are more or less impossible to pull off against the CPU. Once I've initiated a grapple I hammer the buttons like a madman but I never ever get the tapout. Am I doing something wrong?

Btw, nice article. Keep up the good work. Good to see that some blogs that get posted on N4G still have integrity.

MrWeymes3515d ago

Thanks for the compliment. It made me smile like a young school lass. Anyway, in regards to tap outs, I believe the guy you are facing must be extremely worn out. I am able to get tapouts in the third round after a lot of body shots.

DelbertGrady3515d ago

Ahh! I suspected something like that. I'll have to grind them down some more then =)

TrevorPhillips3515d ago

of course its easy because its a demo and if you wait for the full game you can change difficulty and surely ull get ur ass kicked

DelbertGrady3515d ago (Edited 3515d ago )

You can change the difficulty level in the demo as well. If you had played it you would have known. But I guess you are too busy manufacturing illiterate flamebait articles for your master.

Microsoft Xbox 3603515d ago (Edited 3515d ago )

Yeah you can change difficulty and its f**king hard on the highest option. Seems like most of you writers from HHG don't know much about games.
