High Voltage Software's Eric Nofsinger has made a pretty bold claim about the quality of FPS games on the Wii.
Technically it is true, because Metroid Prime 3 is a first-person adventure. Call of Duty WaW was decent. I still need to review Red Steel (rental, but it apparently sucked). I will get to these games eventually.
Ever since the Wii was announced with motion controls,I knew the FPS genre could get the innovative method of pushing the genre forward.Come on High Voltage,do the best you can
...it STILL won't, after The Cantdoit is released. :o
LMAO "Cantdoit" that has to be the funniest thing I've heard today.
At first i thought it was some jibberish, not knowing how to spell the name. But now knowing what he did, it made laugh XD. [Although the fanboyism with this one is harse xD)
And the sky is blue.
Clearly these guys have not played the masterpiece known as Far Cry: Vengeance.
Wii needs more quality in its console specs to get a quality FPS. High Voltage Software's is trying their best to make this happen but they can only do so much considering what they are working with...
That was completely idiotic. You do understand that FPS existed before this gen on hardware inferior to Wii? Nah you probably actually think you have a valid point sadly...
So, in your logic people would buy a repackaged Golden Eye- or Doom-- even, at full value in a competitive market dominated by HD software? Sure, the Conduit might be good-- great even, but it's still competing with HD software, wheather you realise it or not. Heck, I think the wii might be competing for the core audience, if Mad World's poor sales are any indication. You totally missed his point.
Wii games sell slowly. Call of Duty sold 40,000 on the Wii at launch, and now it has sold 1.09 million. Read my blog. This game will be awesome, I can agree with you on that. GoldenEye 007 would sell like crazy on Virtual Console though, you know, where the hardcore Wii gamers are.
... be cool enough to excuse Metroid from your list of non-existing games. I know it's a 1st person adventure. But you know... whatever. Good luck matching that calibre of gaming experience. And Prime 3 wasn't even Retros' best effort. That would be Prime 1. Don't over sell your game there Eric. What little patience the core audience has left, may come back to bite you in the ass if your game is not what you claim it to be.
I don't know about you guys, but a FPS game was the last genre on my mind after considering buying a wii, let alone casual gamers.... then again, the wii remote will probably work well in that field huh?!...
Heck, the Wii hast he fewest quality titles over all genres: Games 8 out of 10 and higher: Wii - 45 PS3 - 97 360 - 140 A large pile of shiatware. Thats what the Wii has.
But the real question is, does the Wii crowd really want a good FPS? IMHO there are a couple out there for it and they have sold horribly. Seeing sales like that would discourage any developer from making a game on the Wii in that genre. Sorry but I am more inclined to believe that those who want a good FPS will have already bought the 360 or PS3 and use the Wii for party gaming.
Some of those FPS have higher sales than Killzone 2.. Hmm if I pop over into the Killzone 2 sales area I wonder if you'd be there calling it a horrible flop as well.. I mean if 1-2 million in sales is a complete flop, most of Sonys games are flops, but I bet those numbers only apply to Wii games? When I look at the million seller list for Wii I see COD3, [email protected], Metroid, Red Steel. I just have to laugh because you obviously didnt have any clue what sales were for FPS on Wii. I mean a million in sales is bad now?lol
First and foremost, provide data before you provide derivitive dribble. Second of all, if you're calling KZ2 a flop, shouldn't be calling the games you mentioned for the wii (including the multiplatform games) a flop because of the wii's user base. Christ man, you have a problem. Get off your "I'm a Nintendo lackey" and stop being a tool. Besides, I'm sure you'll enjoy the conduit and this game, so when it comes out enjoy it as you do with other wii games. Simple, ain't it!
" shouldn't be calling the games you mentioned for the wii (including the multiplatform games) a flop because of the wii's user base." No, simple because Game sales do not match install bases as a whole, go look at every generation. What game did actually sell the exact same amounts as there were consoles within that installbase? And im talking about " HARDCORE" Games. ( not games that come with the console ) A million is a sucess. Sales Equall to installbase is Epic. Now for the KZ2 argument, i didn't touch that, so don't go ape-sh/t on me XD.
If it's a million, it's a success. Potentially you have at least a million people enjoying the game. Which I wanted this tool above to understand since you loves to bring it into play. No I'm going to go apesh!t on you. No reason to. You just stated your point. No harm, no foul. ^_^
What does Killzone 2 have to do with it? I speak of FPS's selling best on the 360 and PS3 and you bring up Killzone 2? Oddly enough, though it sold less than expected, it is still a quality FPS but represents a small fraction of the many super successful FPS's on both the 360 and PS3. You can slam the PS3 all you want but that does not make my original statement untrue. What your comment does however is remove any doubt that you are a silly fanboy...
Bah, i'm still sleepy, can't really read correctly today xD. Sorry bout that.
Get some sleep. ^_^ "Which I wanted this tool above to understand since you loves to bring it into play." slight revision. I meant. "Which I wanted this tool above to understand since HE loves to bring it into play." Sorry about that.
To answer slimdaddy, yes the Wii audience does want a good FPS. We had golden eye before halo and perfect dark also and the awesome weapons of Turok. We had doom on the snes. The point is if the game is fun people will buy a system for it and play it the same way the casuals said to them selves hey I don't play video games but you know what I want that game. I'm sitting here waiting on the same thing to happen to me with HD consoles. They havn't made a game I really wanted to buy a system for yet. Every one has different triggers because we all see fun differently. I expect it to sell to the skilled FPS first which are still on the PC. This may be slow or fast depending on where and how they do the ads. Then I expect it to have legs for a while. Now wouldn't it be cool if nintendo ran a seal of quality award where they actually pack your game in with the system for a full year! That would get developers back on the horse! They could sell it with a black Wii also! Hey I wouldn't worry about sells that will take care of it self since there are way too many systems out for this game not to have legs. Also this is one of the last games to stand up to metroid 3 tech wise and control wise. Art wise the conduit is better than the other FPS expect metroid3. If you are good at metroid 3 and made it past the sky city then you know what I mean, beautiful game.
It's sad really. Not only is the kid on ignore for being a complete moron, he cant even understand what ignore means and keeps trying to respond to me... Sad really.. Let me guess. He got his panties all in a twist for pointing out how some Wii FPS have higher sales than killzone and wants to act like its not valid? Just a hunch though, not taking him off ignore to find out. just going by your post Sidar.
Why you have me on your ignore list is beyond me since I feel my statements are not fanboyish at all. I could care less if you like or dislike Killzone 2 for either its game sales or actual content. I am simply saying that many of us who own the Wii have sought after FPS's on the 360 or the PS3 and left the Wii for party games and short puzzlers. You can be crass all you want about ignoring me but it was you that responded to my original post so you must see fit to at least acknowledge me once and a while...
Killzone2 is show piece and only a show piece for how far you can push the ps3 with effort. show piece sales your name "SONY"if not the product it was intended to show. if you can hit that sweet mark and push units with your brand attached; that is what we call bonus time. Epic/Bungie/Isominiac/Naughtdo g what ever this guy come out with people will buy... you can see more of an example in what i am saying with all the UT3E games coming out on the 360/ps3. gears 1 was buggy but gears2 was 5X as buggy as the first one. people bought more copies then the first one. the chances of you seeing another game this gen is unlikely because it might hurt their brand name if it is more buggggier then the first two. you being an baby might not know this... High volatage is pushing the furhter then anybody else. just imagine how great this game could be if it had a little more specs... time to goto work now...make sure your baby set is set straight...lol
" High volatage is pushing the furhter then anybody else. just imagine how great this game could be if it had a little more specs" But it is considered great by many already who have played it. It would be the same as saying, Wouldn't killzone been much better if it were made for the next generation of SUPER COMPUTERS? It is what it is, and lots of those who played it think its great as it is already. Of course with more power more could been done, but same could be said about sh/tloads of games. I seriously hope this game sells great, it wouldn't be fair to them at all if it didn't. They could have made a PS3/360 title, but they didn't, they did this for those who scream for "hardcore" games. I'm gonna buy it and see for myself how "great" it is.
This quotation is taken from an IGN interview, and it has been divorced from its original context. Earlier in the same interview, Nofsinger states that he looked to Metroid Prime 3 and Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 for inspiration when designing the game's controls, so he does not seem to think that all of the previous shooters on the system were bad. The section quoted was more of a statement about the quality of first personal shooters on the system--most of which are weak ports--in general.
Wait, why disagree? I wasn't even stating an opinion. I was explaining that the quotation was taken out of context, which is true. Read the original IGN interview.
Poor kid..Dont cry now.. I know I called a PS3 game a flop.. Please forgive me. I forget games sells only matter when its a Wii game not selling.. PS3 fankids just cant handle having their own bias logic thrown back at them.. Go have a good cry now
Many of us have maintained a good discussion but you seem to have a chip on your shoulder against Sony when in fact the only one to bring up Sony was you. It's odd, many of us just feel there are other alternatives to FPS's and better ones at that on the other consoles and as history would prove, many of the other FPS's ont he Wii have not sold enough to make it worth it for devs to take a chance on the Wii for that genre. Not to say that they are not making games in general. You need to lighten up there and shake that fanboy chip off your shoulders.
You multi-dimensional wii baby fan (insert 3 letter word).
