For games that are all about blowing stuff up, most shooters don't allow a great deal of destruction. Behind the curling flames and inky smoke of their explosions, landscapes remain pristine and untouched save for a few scuff marks. Shacks and sheds survive direct hits from cluster bombs; skyscrapers stand unscathed when nukes land nearby. When it comes down to it, there's really not much to smash in the average shooter.
