Mexican State Government to Confiscate All Copies of GRAW2

According to Juarez newspaper El Diario, the governor of the Mexican state of Chihuahua has ordered the seizure of all copies of Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2.

Gov. Jose Reyes Baeza Terraces apparently took the action following recent criticism of GRAW2 by Juarez Mayor Héctor Murguía Lardizábal, who called the game, which deals with battles between an elite U.S. force an Mexican rebels, "a crime against the intellectual capacity of Juarez residents." The Juarez mayor offered this blanket condemnation:

"Violent video games instill values which are upside down, and these actions are despicable because they attempt to divide the good will of the residents of American and Mexican cities."

Protection of the border between the United States and Mexico is, of course, an extremely hot political topic these days.

A seizuse of GRAW 2 or any game will hurt much more than help. Jose Reyes Baeza Terraces and El Diario have made a very bad decision IMO. These Mexican governors don't realize that ordering the seizure of GRAW 2 will make the country out to be more of a tyrant than the game itself. The game is just that, a game. Stealing someone's right to play or own a game is just wrong. These "leaders" (if you will) should not, and likely won't, be reelected. I can't believe that they have taken it to this extreme level. I am so upset right now. I don't even recall any Mexican governors saying a word until the game was release; then bam. I personally have a belief that Mexicans can make a game of there own and put in the content they believe will sell. Their game (and any) has the right to deal with anything from hot political topics, to shooting evil children, to a stroll in a Mexican park. I don't care so much what a game is about, I do care if it is fun, engaging, and has good presentation. I am interested to follow this sad sad story.

I must have sleeped through the story line...but didn't American forces and Mexican forces work together in this game to get the bad guys?
how is that bad...does that not show that the two goverments can work together?

I think this Govenor and that Thompson guy play GRAW2 online and they
are on each others friend list.

They will also probably GTA online together.

Update! I found out that the Mexican state of Chihuahua is using them as a trainning tool. It is true...seriously...!?

Wow, this is pretty stupid. If they actually knew anything about the game, they would know that you work WITH the Mexican government to help kill rebels trying to destroy Mexico.
