Cable to transfer HDD data to Elite 360?

Ben over at ars technica expressed his concern for how to transfer HDD data from his old 360 to the new Elite 360 if he were to purchase one. Not soon after Ben received a tip from a person who works at a large video game distributor (who wanted to remain anonymous) and divulged an answer to the data transfer problem ... an included cable. The tipster went on to say that,

"MS has told us that the data will be transferred via some sort of cable that will be included with the unit. The cable will also be included w/ the 120GB drive that will be sold separately (price TBD)."

Again, this is a whole basket full of rumor berries, but if it were true would it sway your opinion on a new Elite 360 purchase? A HDD to HDD data transfer cable would be a great accessory anyway and with the release of a 120GB HDD one would think it'd be a no brainer. Or maybe we're all just geniuses.

Thats is good. I was willing to accept just my account transfer to a new system but this makes it a plus for me to bring game saves.

Yep, you heard that right, deny all you want. IF this is true current 360 owners just got own.

*wait here they come "Microsoft Defense Force"

telling us how exactly? if you CHOOSE to get the new unit or hard drive, they give you an option to keep all of your existing saves and content. not losing everything you've accumulated so far is bad?

every console gets updated. what is the big deal? there are always going to be new models. the ps2, most recently got updated. slimmer design, built in modem... super nintendo, genesis, ps1, even game cube if you count new colors. ps3 and wii will eventually be updated and according to you all the current owners will be screwed. all old systems can play all new games. better video quality, big deal...

HDD but dont need to buy another PS3 instead you would be able to
remove your 60HDD and put on the new HDD for the PS3 but of course
Microsoft is just screwing 360 fans over just to buy another 3rd Sku thats deffinitaly not needed.

Last time I checked, giving more options to the consumers wasn't a bad thing. The Elite 360's are going to be produced in limited quantities, and you don't necessarily have to get one to get a larger HD on your white 360, just buy the HD separately once it comes out.

Besides, the Elite is going to be cheaper than the Premium is at the moment. I don't see how that can be a bad thing.

I thought you could buy the 120GB HDD separate?

I had been wondering about this for a few months. I'm glad to hear that it will include a cable to transfer the data (even if it is still just a rumor).

So have I. I'm still waiting for the Xbox to 360 one though. All they need is to make a cable with USB on one end and an adaptor like the xbox memory card on the other end. A simple update could allow the console to just show up like a memory card. It's like a $10 piece of hardware needed but still not made.
