THAT`S THE REAL WAR.
NOT WHO HAS EXCLUSIVES AND ALL THAT JAZZ.
HD IS GOING TO BECOME STANDARD SOON.
MORE DEV. REQUIRES MORE SPACE.
THE FUTURE IS CREEPING UP QUICKLY.

AND IF ANY 360 ONLY PEOPLE CAN`T SEE THE PROBLEMS THAT LIE AHEAD
I FEEL SORRY FOR YOU AND YOUR MONEY.
AND W/ ALL THE PS EXCLUSIVES JUMPIN OVER, DON`T THINK THEY AND MORE WON`T JUMP BACK OVER TO PS WHEN THEY RUN OUT OF SPACE TO CREATE WITH.

Why? We weren't forced to buy a console relying on a format that is currently in a format war. If HD-DVD failed, we would still be able to play all of our games. On the other hand, if Blu-Ray failed, not only would the PS3 turn into an expensive paperweight, but that would pretty much spell the end for Sony as a company.

Just to let you know, game producers haven't had much problems with space yet. Even if they did, it would be extremely easy to put the game on two DVD's rather than one.

GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT.
DEVELOPERS CONSTANTLY ARE HAVING TO CUT THINGS OUT BECAUSE OF SPACE.
WHY DO YA THINK GEARS WAS SO SHORT AND LOST PLANET.

Anego Montoya FTMFW3693d ago

THATS A JOKE.

HOW BOUT 4 DVD`S 5 DVD`S

DON`T BE A SUCKER.

You realize that there is something called a dual-layer disc don't you?

Would you mind turning off caps-lock too? It makes you look really, really ignorant.

and then the games will bounce back when developers go how the hell do you develope for this, and then they'll think how could we of made a profit with the ps3 install base

MikeGdaGod3693d ago

in the end, bluray will show its value. it won't happen right away like sony would want you to believe, but as time passes and companies start putting more HD content into their games the space could be needed. some games already coming for the 360 are pushing the memory limits of the 360, and some will be on multiple disks. people can say all they want, multiple disks don't matter, but i'd find it a little irritating. i just don't think the devs won't use this tech to their advantage......eventually

"some games already coming for the 360 are pushing the memory limits of the 360"

Are you referring to the system RAM of the 360, or the capacity of DVD's...because they aren't the same thing.

MikeGdaGod3693d ago

i'm talking about disk space not RAM.

First off if HD-DVD does fail, not saying it has or will, but if it does, then those who bought the HD-DVD drive will be out $200.00 for an expensive paperweight as you say. If Blue ray failed, well guess what Sony would use DVD9 just like the precious XBOX 360 does, duh!

To say that if Blu ray failed as a Movie media storage doesn't mean that it would fail as a game storage device, dumba$$, think back to the PS1, who else was using black discs for their games, yeah stupid reponse to his post. I say the future is creeping in rather fast as HDTV's are falling to more reasonable prices, internet is getting faster (can't wait for the ability to download 1 terabyte, NOW THATS POWER). Developers will develop for the systems that will bring them money or cross-platform to make even more money, after all the Game development industry is like the stock market, they're all in it to make lots of money and hope that their stocks don't fail and someone gobbles them up like EA Games does.

Praise what system is true to your heart but don't flame someone for their opinion, after all it is THEIR opinion not yours.

A hit like that to the PS3 would severely cripple Sony, not just because of the PS3, but because of the fact that they have invested so heavily into the Blu-Ray format. If Blu-Ray failed, guess what would happen to the sales figures for the PS3? That's right, they would plummet. The PS3 would no longer have any advantage over the 360. After one format is chosen is when the majority of consumers will begin to purchase the victorious format's players, and thus the 360 sales would rise to fill the void of the PS3's sale drop. It's simple economics.

lilwingman3693d ago

I think that as long as the PS3 is around, Blu-Ray can't fail. The install base alone will be purchasing large amounts of movies. As the PS3 install base grows, so does BD's.

techie3693d ago

If blu-ray movies didn't sell then they'd still make blu-ray games...so that advantage of space would still be there. But of course they would lose their advantage of being a multimedia next-gen player. Both formats will be around a long time.

Boink3693d ago

quad layer dvd - 18 gigs. tons of storage.

and quit typing in caps moron.

techie3693d ago

Can any dvd- player read quad layer?

rayzorn3692d ago

hell i dont know deep. i never heard of it but im guesing soon or later they will make something up like that if they havent. but i would say without a doubt the xbox 360 and ps3 both could not read it even if it out there.unless he is talking about a dual layered double sided dvd. because those are around but you would still have to flip it over and i never saw a game made that way. but i have seen some movies made that way

kmis873692d ago

They don't make quad layer discs because the DVD players on the market can't read quad layer discs, and they cost much more.
