IGN: The Wednesday 10: Gaming Dystopias

Videogames have proven especially adept at presenting dystopian visions over the years, building on the work of novelists, filmmakers and other artists to bring a new level of experience to the topic: immersion. It's one thing to read about an all-seeing government watching your every move, but it's quite another to feel its eyes on you as you move through a virtual world. Walking through the remains of a crumbling society and fighting for survival along the way sure puts an exclamation point on the warnings shouted from the pages of science fiction.

So which games have created the clearest and most memorable visions of dystopia throughout the medium's relatively short life?

The story is too old to be commented.
