What happens after Modern Warfare 2?

The hype for Modern Warfare 2 has begun spinning like a turbo-charged washing machine. Game of the year is on it's way! At least, that's what many FPS fans are expecting. How can it not be? But once Modern Warfare 2 finishes up production, what's next on the list for the Call of Duty franchise? Another Modern Warfare? Yet another WWII COD?

In my opinion, they need to split up the two franchises. Modern warfare sticks to its modern warfare roots and let COD stick to its WW2 roots or just die.

WAW showed that people still enjoy the WW2 era shooter so there is still money to be made especially since they will just re-use infinity wards old engine so it should be relatively inexpensive to make.

So we will get COD every other yr and Modern Warfare every other yr

I loooove Modern Warfare as much as the next guy...probably more but please i wish some people would stop treating this game like we should bow down to it. i love MW but i hate when people compare every other game involvng a gun to it. And I wonder me how long will Infinity Ward be able to continue the MW franchise...Cause i can tell you now..people are hyping this game up waaaaay too much and that always leads to disappointment

well id imagine treyarch has to do something spectacular after. i think ill still be playing MW2 years into the future. perhaps the call of duty engine in vietnam, or future warfare

If I follow IW's progression (COD2-12hr,COD4-6hr) then MW2 will be a 3hr SP campaign. WOOT, but it'll be co-op! And will include a suicide bomber horde mode because IW never copies, they INSPIRE. It will have auto-aim so every noob gets at least one MVP. No dedicated servers too which means I'll never get to play 1/2 the maps. If it sells above 10 million copies, then I might get a map pack (the OP had the nerve to call out Bungie because they support the Halo community?). After the greatness of MW2, 3 will drop modern combat in favor of sci-fi, feature no SP campaign, double the amount of worthless perks, and p!ss everyone off because we thought it was a Halo/Resistance clone. Oh the irony OP.

The nerve to call out Bungie? I'm not calling anybody or any developer out. I merely stated the obvious that Infinity Ward and Bungie are completely different when it comes to DLC and keeping the community happy with new features for their games.

IW seems to just want to move onto bigger and better things while Bungie likes to stretch their games as far as they can go. There is nothing wrong with that, either way. Devs can do whatever they want with DLC. For IW, it made more sense to move on and stop COD4 DLC. With Bungie, they have a bigger fan community so they know they have to keep them happy with DLC or else they will never hear the end of it. Halo fans are very vocal, you know that.
