Google have completed their $23 Million (estimated) buyout of Adscape, a San Francisco-based in-game advertising company. Google are keeping official plans secret, but many suspect they will try to integrate their Google Ads technology into video games. This latest buyout is just the latest in a flurry of recent activity surrounding the in-game advertising market. With Valve recently launching in-game ads for their immensely popular shooter Counter-Strike, and many other online ad providers positioning themselves to service the video game industry, how long will it be before ads are shown in your favourite game?
The answer to that question, is probably 'not in the immediate future'! There is, after all, a lot of infrastructure that must be put in place before in-game ads can be launched across the various platforms.
