Erected by Scottish company DMA Design (now known as Rockstar North) and published by BMG Interactive, the Grand Theft Auto franchise began its campaign of success on the PC. From there, it migrated to the Sony PlayStation (PS1) and Game Boy Color – where it would catch flames of valued reception amongst the gaming community for introducing a new means of storytelling; where the player, this time around, took control of a criminal who roamed freely around a city completing various missions (bank robberies, assassinations, drug exchanges, etc.) for the city's local crime syndicates."
