Sega hasn't been the same since they dropped the Dreamcast and went third-party. However, they are now making a comeback, at least in their video game quality.
The Dreamcast was no doubt one of Sega's high points in terms of the quality of their hardware and software, although not sales compared to their competition. However, they have still had critically acclaimed games since such as Jet Set Radio Future, Super Monkey Ball, F Zero GX and Outrun 2. They also released a great arcade game in 2006 called Let's Go Jungle. I know that some people think that the Sonic the hedgehog series has become over-complicated by extra characters and ideas but I haven't played any post-Dreamcast Sonic games to comment about that.
We all knew they had the talent, it's good to see them making a come back. Does anyone remember John Montana Football for Sega, when all you had to do on the kickoff was run up the sideline and no one could tackle you? I use to run laps and the AI just ate it up and followed me. It was classic.
I miss the old Sega. :(
lol SayyyyGahhhh. Thanks for making me smile. Though I never owned a Dreamcast, I played a majority of the games, they are great.
The minute my Dreamcast bricked a couple of years ago was one of the saddest moments in my gaming life. What a truly memorable machine! The decline of SEGA is closely related to the decline of the arcade business. After all SEGA was born as an arcade machine manufacturer. Sadly I fear we will never get the old SEGA back. :(
and i might care about sega again..
Sega should purchase OnLive. That would cement my interest in the service. More Shenmue would be great.
SEGA is doing very well so far for their RPG side like valkirya chronicles and phantasy star zero I hope they keep it up and stop the sonic trash they are releasing thus far.
Yeah, until the next Sonic game is revealed and they will be stuffed into a wooden box and set on fire and sent back to the fiery depths of hades.
The dreamcast was probably one of my favorite game consoles, i still have it. I loved that thing and was really awesome. House of the dead overkill, Mad World and then Conduit coming out too, they feel like dreamcast games to me. Just awesome gameplay and unusual graphics. Keep the great games coming Sega, games that have that Dreamcast feel to them!
Needs to bring back the Shenmue series!
Sega console is back, YES!
My beloved sega, you are truly coming back. Sega made alot of good games this gen. I have viking, sonic unleashed, sonic and the black knight, house of the dead over kill, virtua fighter 5, madworld, condemned.
I was always a sega fan as a child. Even through to the DreamCast.
I disagree with this completely. The history of Sega is a very interesting one, and where they did start off with their arcade games, the American company tried to succeed with their console system(s) in a rushed manner. There were a few quality titles but mostly the company has been consistently a mess. If it wasn't for the Sega USA office and their Genesis system they wouldn't of made it into the 90s. For every good game there are a good 5 so-so titles and one or two horrible games. This has never changed. I blame the Japan Sega office for their stubborn ways and preventing Sega USA to prevail and succeed.
i've always been a fan of sega, back in the days of snes and genesis i owned both, and i was the only person amongst my friends who owned a saturn, which i might add is an awesome system and imo better than the dreamcast. The dreamcast was great but i feel like it had way too many arcade games. They were worth a rental but not a purchase imo. I hope sega starts pumping out more quality titles. Enough with the sonic games, they are terrible. The only sonic game i wanna see is a psn/xbox live 2d sidescroller with gorgeous graphics. That would be awesome.
