Puyo Pop Returns

Sega announced in this week's issue of Famitsu magazine that Puyo Puyo 7, the latest in their series of falling-object puzzle games, is currently in the midst of development. The game's been announced for three systems so far; the Nintendo DS version will be the first to drop on July 30 in Japan, while the PSP and Wii ports won't come out until winter '09 in the country.

Last seen here in the US under the guise of Puyo Pop Fever, the game (part of a series that dates all the way back to 1991 in Japan) is a Tetris-like action puzzler where you build a stack of colored "puyos" that disappear when you line up four of like color. The game's at its best in competition mode, where chaining combos together lets you "attack" your opponent's stack with heaps of puyos.

The story is too old to be commented.
