TeamXbox writes: "DreamWorks' Monsters vs. Aliens had a 58.2 million dollar opening weekend. That may be a drop in the bucket to the hornswoggling Madoff, but it's a grip of cash for the box office amidst an economic downturn.
It took a CGI movie to oust Watchmen from 2009's list of top opening weekend draws. This isn't really surprising, since pretty much everything that DreamWorks, Pixar, et. al. put out turns instantly into gold. Heck, Pixar already did a monster CGI, and it still didn't hold people back from packing the theaters in late March for Monsters vs. Aliens (MvA)."
