Great review, may have to give it a try
An 8.5 is severely overrating this game, IMO. Last Remnant (PC) deserves more like a 5.5 or 6.0.
I downloaded the demo for this game the other day to be pleasently surprised, the combat system is very good in my opinion, waiting on a PS3 version to be announced, but if nothing happens soon I will go ahead and purchase for the PC.
Nice review :)
Would still like to play this one.
I really, really want to play this game.
It's cool that the game is good, but JRPGs are practically dead in the water anyway.
there are still texture pop-ins(they just pop-in faster with a better computer) and the game can't run at 60 fps constant(it crashed on me twice and i have a 2.8 quadcore with 4 gigs of ram and a 9800 gts). So if you don't have a super computer this game still has technical problems just not as bad as the 360 version.
He's not lying, the game run solid for me. I assume you've haven't played the Xbox360, the framerate was so bad it was completely unplayable, it would lag constantly for ages.
Dude there must be something wrong with your PC, for one side I can confirm that it has texture pop in but its not even remotely as extreme as the 360 version, but in terms of performance it runs like a charm, running it on max under vista for 1680x1050 I get and average of 68fps without a single sluggish moment, and running it a console res of 1280x720 I get an average of 106fps again with out a single sluggish moment I am running it with a 3.0Ghz Dual Core, 4GB RAM and a 8800GTSSC on Vista
i don't know wht to tell you guys. There still is texture pop-ins(not as bad as the 360). Maybe ure lucky cause according to what you posted my pc is better than yours. I have it at the same resolution as yours. Edit: when it crashed i set the framerate to a max of 60fps, but when i put it to default (none) it doesn't crash anymore
I was so hyped for this game when it was first announced. But after I seen gameplay videos, heard more details etc the hype started to fizzle out. If ever this game comes to PS3 then I may try it out, but I'm doubting that will happen at the moment. I'd rather SE work on FFXIII, anyway.
Strickly gameplay alone, Last Remnant is a solid JRPG...I enjoyed the game and put in a good 80 hours....Tons of sidequests, free DLC, and the side mission bosses are extremely difficult. The battle system is unique as well and takes some time to get used to. I believe this game is worth a try at the least, I got my game for 25 bucks so wasnt too much to spend for an RPG. I enjoyed this game more than FFXII Yes, there was tech problems with the game...Some can ignore it, some cant...
Well here are some quick thoughts I have regarding the game that I must say I found to be surprisingly good +Love the combat system, from the whole unions, to the special orders, to the combos, chain critical (VERY good hit detection tech) or how the battle is affected depending on how you "move" your unions on the battlefield +Love whole the teams auto handle themselves, no need to baby sit +Love Mr Diggs and the whole aspect of exploring and leveling up +Music so far has been VERY good +Love how after you have learned a good amount of special moves the fights get pretty spectacular +The graphics for the most part are very good +The design of a lot of stuff is pretty spectacular +Thank good for original Japanese dialogue /Find it kind of awkward the whole no levels but stats just increase with different battles, sometimes seems SUPER random /The tutorials are not very good, some help others leave you more confused /Some of the stuff you might be required to do can be very vaguely explained /If you know some japanese some of the english subtitles seem kind of out of place or just plain funny after listening to the specific part in Japanese -Constant texture pop in, thankfully not as bad as the 360 version -Graphical inconsistency like random low res textures on key stuff -Some of the design are ultra JRPG generic or flat out horrible -So far out of all the key party characters I have only 2 have some remotely interesting story...if any -Find it odd that the story is more interesting in terms of events than actual character involvement and development -Fights can get INSANELY chaotic specially in the 15 vs +20 -English voice over is terrible Like I said I am surprised that the game is actually good and more importantly that I am enjoying it so far
