People aren't "happy" with it.

Good journalism though.

Serjikal_Strike3252d ago

but its not stoppping me from buying games
let alone in the past month and a half I've bought 5 games at $60 bucks each
Killzone2
Resident Evil 5
Wanted weapons of fate
Street Fighter 4
Dead Space

So is every game a AAA game? Here in Europe the starting price is almost allways at 60 euros (79.7 USD), and trust me not all of them are AAA.
You know how happy I would be if games where at 60 USD! It would be something like 45 euros!!!
You hear people complaining how many buy second hand games, and how bad it is for the industry. If you lowerd your prices I would gladly buy a lot more new games but at 80 USD a game, it's a bit exagerated.
An example: monster vs aliens (game of a new animation movie, wich will most certainly be crap) is at 58 Euros!! which is about 77 USD. Are you f*** kidding me. A game derived from an animation movie costing so much?? If that is not ripping off the customer...
Once again lower your prices, and I'll most certainly buy more games, and more of them would be new instead of second hand

edit: I know this has nothing to do with the US or the article, but I felt like expressing myself lol

This generation has taught me to be MUCH more selective with my spending. I've blown $70 + tax on so many over-hyped titles this gen, particularly multi-plats, that I'm on a "rental only" policy unless it's a JRPG or sweet looking system exclusive.

@ Hi-def freak. I'll give you Killzone 2 and Dead Space, but the rest of your list, most notably "Wanted: WOF" just seem like a waste of cash. In my opinion, Capcom make highly polished, though altogether average games. They are the gaming equivalent of Transformers or any other summer blockbuster - entertaining, but shallow. They haven't released a title this gen that I've seen that's worth plunking down 80 bucks for.

when it received a price drop in December. It's $10 cheaper than other games. I thank EA for that. They are the only company to drop the price of their games so fast and so frequently. Quality games too: Burnout ($20), Mirror's Edge, Battlefield, Army of Two, Red Alert 3 and tons of others.

did gamestop just tell me what im happy with.

isnt that for me to decide?

@Steviek08

What are you talking about games in the UK are cheaper than the US, considering you can pick up new games for £34.99 ($50) on launch now (and more often that not for 30quid ($43)) i don't see what you are moaning at.

Even if you buy from the expensive places you still only paying $57.

Not to mention the fact that our price is with Tax included and in the US they get Tax added on after.

However in France and Germany games are more expensive.

Megaton3252d ago

More like begrudgingly accepting, I'd say. No one's "happy" that things cost $60 when they could cost $40.

How does the whole PAL thing factor in?

poindat3252d ago

I've noticed that I'm buying games in higher frequency than I had been with the PS2, even with the higher price. I find that funny, given the economic climate and (terrible) pricing of games. But hey, more games are more games, and as long as I'm happy with the games, I won't complain about the price.

Bubble Buddy3252d ago

I don't think Gamestop knows what "The customer is always right" means because a lot of my friends and I included, don't like the $59.99 price tag ($69.99 in CAN). :/

ButterToast3252d ago

you can usually get a deal if you are patient and keep an eye out for them. I got Valkyria Chronicles for $45 a week after release, got Killzone 2 and Street fighter IV for $80 together. Thats how I will probably be buying the rest of my games this gen unless there is some pre-order bonus that I really want.

Agreed.

In the PS2 generation, I probably have about 20 games in the span of 8 years!

So far with the PS3/360, I'm nearing the 65+ mark with exclusives and multiplats.

I've never had so many games in my life til now.

Being from canada I'm not liking Eb/Gamestops price points. I've been trying to figure out how KZ2 is selling for 59.99 up here and 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand is 69.99.... it's mind blasting

ThanatosDMC3251d ago

$65(with tax) isnt cheap. I am not happy with the prices.

Seem's to be the UK's selling threshhold.

ChickeyCantor3252d ago

They are not happy, they pretty much dont have a choice( unless they wait for a price drop)

RememberThe3573252d ago

Uncharted, Lair and Heavenly Sword are still 59.99... I mean come on, give us a break.
