Japanese People Are Less Interested In Video Games

Japan's Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association polled over one thousand individuals between the ages of 3 and 79 about the declining interest in video games.

The number of those that consider themselves gamers dropped 30.3 percent between 2007 and 2008. If that percentage is expanded Japan's national population, that's a decrease of 6 million gamers.

The story is too old to be commented.

remember, asians are usually exposed to brand new tech at least a year before anyone else...which means what to them is old is fairly new in the US. Stuff that gets us excited, like brand new cellphones, were out long ago in Japan, and that goes for video games as well...

I can understand why a person would get tired of video games if they only played a Wii.

-Wow thats a huge dip, their tastes have always been somewhat puzzling from a western perspective but the last couple of years they have been declining in the market, only wii and handhelds have been huge hits.

They are slowly realizing that the Wii is mainly shovelware, with a few great games. As the PS3 continues sales dominance and people ge their hands on it, interest will pick back up. There are too many great games on the PS3 to deny, plus it has blu ray, something the japanese like.
