After tackling the werewolf and Arabian Nights legends, Sonic is summoned from the ether by Merlina to save her realm from a corrupt King Arthur, who is under the influence of Excalibur's scabbard. Sonic must fight three knights of the round table before facing Arthur himself and restoring order to the peasants of Camelot.
This is the second entry in the Sonic 'storybook' series after the rather dismal Sonic and the Secret Rings. Happily, Black Knight is an improvement, with the makers obviously having absorbed some of the Sonic Unleashed greatness during production. The opening animation is arguably even tighter and more beautiful than Unleashed - and that's saying something - but then the game disappoints by slipping back into sketchy picture-book interludes between levels.
