Neocrisis: Nintendo Screws Loyal Gamers Again

Neocrisis: For those of you still paying any attention to Nintendo, they've done it again. They pissed off their fanbase. The upcoming DSi implements a region lock of the online store. Why stop gamers from buying from another region's store if they so wish? I see nothing wrong with it. It gives people a chance to check out some of the games from other regions without going through the hassle of importing.

I will have to agree on that one. It makes no sense to region lock a online store. The only thing it can do is hurt Nintendo.

I completely agree with this article. I haven't bought a game for the Wii since Okami many months ago.

Maybe it has to do with publishing rights? Maybe published by another company in one country and published by a different company in another country? Would be a pain to see who gets the royalties.. of course though I don't know what's even on the online store.

That would seem likely, for instance Square is publishing Disgaea DS and Persona 4(and Disgaea 3) in Europe, but nowhere else.

Plus Nintendo want to keep some exclusive content for their japanese fans most likely, they are a Japanese company.
