Sony will start shipping the stripped-down Euro version of the PS3 to US and Japanese retailers in April or May
... unless you want to have the same uncertainty as us European buyers.
Well I'd be pissed if they didn't - manafacturing two hardwares and then not giving the Europeans the same one. That'd be stupid. We don't want to be guini-pigs.
I will be using my PS3 for 5 PS2 games -.-, i dont really need it. But yes i would be pissed if americans didnt get it took out.
Not really that big of deal.
First time being an early adopter paid off.
You took the words right out of my mouth.
I think this is the correct move on Sony's part. The only thing I don't like about the whole thing is the fact that Sony made a big deal and even made fun of Microsoft for doing Software emulation while they were already on the planning stage of doing the same. It shows how much credibility they have. I expect anything from them. They only critisize microsoft on the software emulation because they knew it was going sound like they had the advantage. They only needed that advantage at first. Now they can care less. They know Sony fans have short term memory and will praise anything they do.
sony said they were gonna make the transition to software BC ages ago. They just shoved in the hardware BC when they launched in Japan and US because it was a quick to guarentee a wide BC library. But as far as i know, software BC will pull production costs down and it may be possible to upscale psone/ps2 games to HD in the future, i think?
Seems a bit off to first make fun of 360's use of BC just to use it themselves too. Such is politics... glad I have my PS3 already with all the old hardware in it. I do like to play old games along with the new.
What companies say can have a big effect on the consumers, even if what they say are un-true. If Microsoft comes out tomorrow and say that the XBox360 have twice the power of the PS3 some people will believe it (except us ofcourse) and go buy a XBOx360. I think companies do this on purpose, it's like a phsycological warfare or something. And that is whats wrong with the world people.
Is hardware Emulation much better for games or software Emualtion?
I'm holding off on my PS3 purchase for the Euro version. Glad it's making it's way here so soon.
they can manipulate better with the software emulator than the hw chip, so i see a bright future with some great updates, that will add some filters and upscaling.
Are you saying microsoft made the right choice?
in that case yes, but their compatibility with xbox games is rather small, maybe they could hire or redirect more programmers just to make updates. But the truth is, that was the only choice for MS, cause you know Geforce (xbox) - ATI (xbox360), you cant compare that to the PS2 emotion chip...
This is definitely not a big deal, oh, unless you own 2000 PS2 games. If you do then you probably already purchased a PS3 or have enough games to last you till the PS4 comes out. A non-issue. Oh, or unless you're a fanboy (of any kind) and you need something, just anything, to complain about...
This was a given. And the old PS3s will probably have dead weight inside of them when the firmware gets advanced enough.
